Growing up, I was always moved by music, whether it be listening to my mom play from her record collection while she cleaned on a Saturday morning, stealing my older brother's 45's and playing them while he wasn't home or making push-button tapes while listening to Red Alert play Hip Hop on New York City radio.  But it wasn't until the age of 15, when I was exposed to the Underground scene by none other than DJ Roman Ricardo at the Tunnel, that I experienced a sound that I could identify with.From that point, I started listening to mixtapes and using my last dollars to buy records from the likes of Todd Terry, MAW, Frankie Knuckles and others, and started the learning process of beat making: dissecting basslines, drum patterns and just anything that caught my ear. Once out of college, even though I was still enticed by sound creation, I decided to focus more on the business side of the industry and landed a job at INDI Distribution, which had a vast catalog of Indie labels like Strictly Rhythm, Nervous Records and Henry Street that made the scene what it is today. During my time there, I went through a school of hard knocks learning the ropes on the production side from the DJ's and producers that made the very records that were heating up the club scene and was inspired to create my own music.With a good collection of releases and remixes  on various labels..including Dufflebag Recordings..Farris Wheel Recordings Darkside Records and an ep soon to be released on Henry Street Music

Cameron Kelly started his journey as an audiophile at the very young age of 4 when he was given his first phonograph. He soon found that it was his mothers Disco 45's that captured his ear rather than the read-along books that came with it. Having been raised by a young woman of the 70’s, a Father who had a passion for rock of the 60’s/70’s, Aunts and Uncles who were children of the 80’s, as well as grandparents from deep in the bayou’s of Louisiana - all from the heart of Dixie Land - Cameron's rich musical history of diverse and soulful melodious taste reflected the spectrum of souls occupying the streets of his hometown, New Orleans.

Cameron was first known for his crew, Kinetic, which over the course of a few years helped re-vitalize the House Music Scene in New Orleans. Working with Anti-pop, he helped form a monthly party, Kompression, which pulled National and International talent to occupy NOLA's sweaty dance floors. To this day, Kompression captivates and educates New Orleans Dance floors as often as once a month! (www.noladm.com) After a few years and over 30 headliners, it was time to reflect on what motivated him. 

The Music.

Cameron, who had been collecting music in all forms looked to djing to cleanse his soul after taking a break from promoting. Cameron has become a staple in the House Community, playing gigs all across the gulf coast as far east as Atlanta, as far north as Missouri and all through the State of Texas.

In his sets, Cameron pulls the musical influence of his past, present and future to take you on a funky ride into the depth of his musical cerebellum. He draws from his early influences of House with artists like Paul Johnson, Justin Long, Stacy Kidd, Boo Williams, Glenn Underground, Todd Terry, Gene Farris and Trevor Lamont while pulling from his more current influential labels like Caboose Records, Juiced Music, Cabbie Hat, Soul Fuel, DOIN' WORK, Grinn Trax Dutchie Music, DirtyBird, and Harmonious Discord; giving them a home in which they can all live harmoniously. By sticking with his fail-proof technique in paying homage to the roots of our culture, Cameron's sets are a collaboration of soulful, techno, and acid sensations that are sure to keep you moving - on the dancefloor or while listening to one of his internet radio shows.

When he's not jaunting through the U.S. for gigs, you'll find Cameron holding it down in Baton Rouge Louisiana, trying to pull people together through music and hosting two radio shows; Kinetic Radio on MyHouseYourHouse when he can and Cracker Jack Radio on SugarShackrecordings.com most Sundays. .

In 2007, he launches his label GOURMAND MUSIC RECORDINGS signing essentially american artists but also european talents. Gourmand's roster includes Giano, Cubase Dan, Tommy Largo, Bart Ricardo, Masss and Dave Dubbz just to name a few.

In 2011, Phil Weeks discovers him and signs him to Robsoul Recordings where he released a successful EP. That same year, JR From Dallas entered the family of the legendary american label TANGO RECORDINGS

Little Routine #48  - Darius Kramer - Vancourcer,BC  

Darius is a self proclaimed "House Addict". He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early '90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio. He was hooked from then on. He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a cassette player and never looked back. When he moved to Vancouver in the late '90's, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records. Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and even ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves. Today, Darius is happily married with a young son, but his love for house music hasn't died. He is still busy putting out mixes and in 2015 is doing some exclusive guest mixes for International house collectives such as Little Routine in France, and Reason2Funk in England. His sets have been described as "organic" and his love for jazz is prevalent in all of his mixes.

Ahh Wilgefortis… The mere sound of her name echoes through The Bearded Man’s heart, puncturing its wall with each bounce like a tiny spastic dagger. What a woman… She was stunning. And betrothed by her piggish father, to a brutish pagan king. Out of options, she prayed to become ugly. Not long after, she sprouted the fullest beard a woman had ever borne in recorded history so far. Little did she know, that her plan would backfire. The Bearded Man chanced upon her, plucking Alphabet’s enduring melody on his dulcimer. He declared her to be the most beautiful creature he had ever seen — beard and all — and instantly fell in love. Sadly, it was not meant to be. Her father, angry over the beard thing, had her crucified, shredding The Bearded Man’s heart like one of Jimi Hendrix’s all-time greatest solos. But hey, it was the 14th century, and times were tough back then to say the least. The Bearded Man is glad he’s not in that era Anymore.

Originally released on my 2008 album "Lost Together" on Om Records and featuring Wayne Tennant on vocals, it became an anthem in South Africa amongst other places, thanks to the Atjazz Remix, who crossed over so many genres and sat on the Traxsource Top 10 for months. 

Fast forward 7 years, and the track still gets love. Out of the blue, my good friend Atjazz sent me this new updated version he did to play in his set, an edit of his original remix. This takes an already legendary remix to another level.

Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves.   After getting tired of both the late nights and politics in the scene, he decided it was time to hang up the headphones in the early 2000s, but the love of house music still burned inside of him as the years passed. 

In 2013 he decided he wanted to get back into DJ'ing and purchased a basic Pioneer controller and started to collect digital tracks again.  Over the past few years Darius has been busy making a name for himself in the underground scene with numerous guest mix appearances around the world on such labels as House Salad, Reason2Funk, Uglyhouse, Little Routine, Selecta Music, Leven Underground and House Jet Radio just to name a few.  He also started the very popular "SPEED BUMPS" mix series which showcases his love for hip hop and jazz as he shows his versatility as a DJ by blending mixes of nu jazz, hip hop instrumentals and acid jazz flavours reminiscent of Mark Farina's legendary series, Mushroom Jazz. 

He also launched the hugely successful "Soul Room Sessions" podcast showcasing the soulful and jazzy side of house music and downtempo beats with guest mixes from some of the biggest names in the game and the series is still going strong!

In 2017 Darius got his first taste of out of town gigging playing live shows all over the West Coast from his hometown in Vancouver, to San Francisco and Oakland.  Stay tuned for much more from him in the near future!
