The Hotevilla project was born a year after KALK's Akasha EP (BRIF003) has been re-issued by Gerd Janson in 2017 on Running Back Double Copy (RBDC02). Its purpose is simple: exploring the many shades of House Music.

What's shakin' funky people?!  We are back with Volume 207 of the series and we are thrilled to welcome a man who has been on fire lately with numerous heater releases, hailing from Fresno, California, we welcome Jason Merle to SRS!!

Hailing from The Tower District in Fresno CA, Jason Merle has been playing records since 1997. After
moving to the Bay Area to swim with the big fish, he began to produce and play with some of the incredible
DJ’s that saturate the scene in San Francisco and eventually moved back to Fresno where he continued his
rise until 2008.
Fast forward a decade after concentrating on fatherhood and he is back at it. Producing tracks and starting his
own label 4E&A Records, he is focused and passionate about learning and improving in the studio and playing
tracks that honor the past and create visions of the future. He may be a little less intoxicated this time around,
but he is just as dizzy in love with house as he was back in the day.

As a producer he has released on a range of different labels including Derrick Carter’s Persnickety All Stars & Stretch Armstrong's Plant Music. Mat's productiuons have gained support from djs such as Kerri Chandler (dropping "Everybody Rise" on the Essential Mix), Laurent Garnier, Blessed Madonna, Maya Jane Coles, Fred P, DJ Sprinkles, Jamie Jones, Skream, Lucy, Joris Voorn, & Busy P among others.

Between fronting his label CLUBBY BOY & continuing his 9 year running party CLUB CONGRESS in both Philadelphia and New York, 2024 is looking to be an exciting year for the American producer.

Biography:
Darius is a self proclaimed "House Addict". He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early '90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio. He was hooked from then on. He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a CD player and never looked back.
When he moved to Vancouver in the late '90's, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records. Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves.
Today, Darius is happily married with a young son, but his love for house music hasn't died. Darius was busy making a name for himself in the underground scene in 2015 with mixes released around the world on such labels as House Salad, Reason2Funk, Uglyhouse, Little Routine, Selecta Music, Leven Underground and House Jet Radio just to name a few.
He also launched the hugely successful "Soul Room Sessions" podcast showcasing the soulful/jazzy side of house music with guest mixes from some of the biggest names in the game and the series is still going strong in 2016!

Playing other peoples music for other peoples enjoyment since 1993.

Darius is a self proclaimed "House Addict".  He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early '90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio.  He was hooked from then on.  He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a CD player and never looked back.  

When he moved to Vancouver in the late '90's, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records. After getting tired of both the late nights and politics in the scene, he decided it was time to hang up the headphones in the early 2000s, but the love of house music still burned inside of him as the years passed. 

In 2013 he decided he wanted to get back into DJ'ing and purchased a basic Pioneer controller and started to collect digital tracks again.  Over the past few years Darius has been busy making a name for himself in the underground scene with numerous guest mix appearances around the world on such labels as House Salad, Reason2Funk, Uglyhouse, Little Routine, Selecta Music, Leven Underground and House Jet Radio just to name a few.  He also started the very popular "SPEED BUMPS" mix series which showcases his love for hip hop and jazz as he shows his versatility as a DJ by blending mixes of nu jazz, hip hop instrumentals and acid jazz flavours reminiscent of Mark Farina's legendary series, Mushroom Jazz. 

He also launched the hugely successful "Soul Room Sessions" podcast showcasing the soulful and jazzy side of house music and downtempo beats with guest mixes from some of the biggest names in the game and the series is still going strong!

In 2017 Darius got his first taste of out of town gigging playing live shows all over the West Coast from his hometown in Vancouver, to San Francisco and Oakland.  Stay tuned for much more from him in the near future!
