Darius is a self proclaimed "House Addict". He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early '90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio. He was hooked from then on. He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a cassette player and never looked back. When he moved to Vancouver in the late '90's, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records. Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and even ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves. Today, Darius is happily married with a young son, but his love for house music hasn't died. He is still busy putting out mixes and in 2015 is doing some exclusive guest mixes for International house collectives such as House Salad Music in Mexico, Little Routine in France, and Reason2Funk in England. His sets have been described as "organic" and his love for jazz is prevalent in all of his mixes.

HateLate found his inspiration following the "House Detroit / Chicago" movement for many years now. With a purist style retro trend, he likes to give a sense and a universe to his music, by passing on emotion across repetitive sounds with the naturally and pure aspect from the last decades. This "Urban House" has seduced the label "Ondulé Recordings" (founded by Joss Moog, Around7 and Jean Cé) who offers him to release his first EP entitled "St Etienne Vol.1". This Pack talks about his hometown, inspired by it's industrial history with raw and deep sounds. If that EP seduced you, a "Vol.2" is under preparation. Stay tuned.

Russian born and London and Berlin residing, DJ Vadim has built a reputation as one of the world’s top independent producers; travelling the globe, performing and collaborating with established and developing talents that cross continents, languages and cultures. Sidney Charles is not a musician, nor a percussionist. He is a collector. A collector of culture and experiences... The energy and feeling around the track is what makes the difference and Sidney’s House Lesson EP is a straight up house number that is reminiscent of the US house sound – full of groove, drum rolls, hi-hats, snares and a vocal that offers a lesson of how to create that perfect house track.
 
Chris Carrier’s B-side remix picks up the pace, adds a signature percussion sound and strips back the vocals to create a more techier focused version of the track.

Have had a lot of people ask me over the past few months when the next Speed Bumps mix will be coming out.  Truth is, it takes so much time and playing around to come up with a series of tracks that work together for a long enough mix!  Finally came up with a set that I think flows really good, and hope you guys dig it!

Lots of great jazzy, groovy downbeat sprinkled with some dope underground hip hop jams.  Cant thank you guys enough for the support on the Speed Bumps series so far, hard to believe this is now Volume 8 in the series!  Still definitely a work in progress for me as this is a huge change from mixing house music, but I love the challenge!

Saved's latest offering is a single from Berlin based artist Burnski.
Appearing for the first time on the label earlier in the year with his incredible take on Harvey McKay's "The Fall", the talented producer delivers "Lost In The Zoo".

The track is a real house bomb with a jackin' disco feel, set across an evolving 
bass line and flourishing voices. Over on the flip is a remix from dynamic duo, The Martinez Bros.
Using the original elements and adding their own unique production including an equally addictive bass line and trippy elements, they create a first rate remix that seals the package off perfectly.

This month marks the passing of the lauded rapper Notorious B.I.G. and to honor his legacy, New York resident DJ Finesse debuted a special tribute during DJ Premier's Sirius/XM show "Live From Headqcourterz" on March 8.

The mix showcases Biggie's a capellas paired with Premier-produced beats. While the original tribute was shorter for air-time, Finesse extends the tribute for hip-hop fans here with a special intro by Premier himself.

DJ Premier's "Live From Headqcourterz" airs every Friday night from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Sirius/XM Channel 44, Hip Hop Nation. DJ Finesse is a regular guest on the show, filling in for Premier as an on-air mixer.

Playing other peoples music for other peoples enjoyment since 1993.

Darius is a self proclaimed "House Addict".  He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early '90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio.  He was hooked from then on.  He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a CD player and never looked back.  

When he moved to Vancouver in the late '90's, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records.  Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves.   After getting tired of both the late nights and politics in the scene, he decided it was time to hang up the headphones in the early 2000s, but the love of house music still burned inside of him as the years passed. 

In 2013 he decided he wanted to get back into DJ'ing and purchased a basic Pioneer controller and started to collect digital tracks again.  Over the past few years Darius has been busy making a name for himself in the underground scene with numerous guest mix appearances around the world on such labels as House Salad, Reason2Funk, Uglyhouse, Little Routine, Selecta Music, Leven Underground and House Jet Radio just to name a few.  He also started the very popular "SPEED BUMPS" mix series which showcases his love for hip hop and jazz as he shows his versatility as a DJ by blending mixes of nu jazz, hip hop instrumentals and acid jazz flavours reminiscent of Mark Farina's legendary series, Mushroom Jazz. 

He also launched the hugely successful "Soul Room Sessions" podcast showcasing the soulful and jazzy side of house music and downtempo beats with guest mixes from some of the biggest names in the game and the series is still going strong!

In 2017 Darius got his first taste of out of town gigging playing live shows all over the West Coast from his hometown in Vancouver, to San Francisco and Oakland.  Stay tuned for much more from him in the near future!
