New Wave Podcast 020: False Persona 

Sean Birch who plays under the alias False Persona is one of the many byproducts of the resurgence of electro within the past few years. As the winds of tastes change and more people discovered/ rediscovered the genre, Sean was pushing a sound that both paid homage to the greats that did it before him while adding his own innovating sounds. This has lead to much recognition from artists old and new, with his music being played by on the radio greats such as Umwelt, but also making good connections with fellow up and coming artists like Hermeth.

Sean's success is a result of obsession and hard work, with his production journey starting back when he was 13, he continuously strives to get better. He admits it took him a while to come into his own with producing and even thought about giving up, but once a string of self releases were well received he was able to grow in confidence. His sound has spanned across many genres and alias' over the years, making lo-fi tracks under 'DJ Something' and deep house under 'Block', however under alias 'False Persona' he has created his best and most successful tracks. He accredits this to the freedom and creativity he is allowed when making broken and offbeat rhythms. 

Although he hasn't established himself as a DJ in his local scene, which struggles to pull in big crowds for underground music, he has made significant strides to build a platform and name for himself. This has lead to him to a residency show on Vandelay Radio and guest appearances on various podcasts. We discuss this in the interview, where he expresses his desire to play out, and we also discuss the transition from lo-fi to electro, rap influences and future releases.
