Celebrating the release of the Scottish producer's new album - Anatomically Correct - Darkfloor invited Chris to record a mix of influences behind his  fantastic sonic interpretation of entropy.

His influences behind the album are varied. Some are direct as heard on certain tracks, like Autechre's 'bqbqbq'. Whilst others are tracks he was listening to, off and on, around the time of writing - WSR and Expressway Yo Yo Dieting. Other tracks are deeper influences, from much further back, like Boogie Down Productions and EOG.

Darkfloor 70 - C Mantle - IDM Influences

"A walk between the thin line of deep and dub. A path of abstraction at a slow and minimal pace. In that same moment a game of translucent sounds (and perturbations) create a soft movement in the wind. My state is of total synesthesia."

Born in France, but now based in Berlin, ANGEL (@lebaillyangel) has been traveling across the planet in search of deep sounds and music that match her vision of aesthetics. Far are the times in London where the young party promoter first fell in love with electronic music. Between Japan and Bali, and now back to Europe, ANGEL has been working on ambient and dub techno music since a while, and is currently preparing a new EP. Last year, her single Coincidence/ Ambivalence (@sinelangrec) was well received while she produced a few podcasts for various radios. Also a journalist, ANGEL regularly interviews artists and DJs and producers for MAGNETIC, BPM Supreme and DJ Tech Tools.

Welcome to the 24th episode of the Stellar Series. This time, let's welcome the talented Luke, aka MTRL.

This german artist, co-founder of the excellent and rising IO label (founded by him and his partner in crime, @dycide), is now renowned in the deep techno sphere for their aerial and hypnotic productions. He wants to push the boundaries of the genre, and think that kind of art happens conscious and dissociated at the same time - but in both cases it reflects the state of mind in it's most natural way. This is the spirit of IO : giving this art the home that it deserves.

This wonderful and generous podcast, "the recording of a sleeping session made for my friends", was made with a hybrid setup, composed of mixed tracks and surrounding live elements. This is a beautifully built travel through emotional and contemplative feelings, that Luke sees in a first time as a spacey trip, but who brings you down then. This is an inspired soundtrack for calming down and sleeping, and a great introduction to the ambient facet of IO.
