Lenka Csanak Pancurák with her dj name Olivia is a
djane from Slovakia, who is not limiting her style to a
single genre. She bases her style on hard, raw, hypnotic
and groovy techno, which she frequently mixes with
breakbeat, ambient, industrial or electro which always
makes her performances exciting and rich in genres. Her
sets are like a story that break you out of reality and
takes you through a world of dark and hypnotic music
that won&#39;t let you stop dancing. She started her career in
her hometown Košice 6 years ago, and later as part of
the Moodyverse project, she played in well-known clubs
in the capital city - Bratislava. Her keen passion for the
depths of electronic music have transformed into her
striking versatility and proficiency as an artist. She played
in clubs such as Radosť, Sundeck, Teleport, Tabačka
and Kino úsmev. Later on she was a part of a project called East Coast Grooves together with Paradiso
Rhythm, Adrian Csanak and Uber acid. East Coast Grooves found its audience on parties and broadened
her musical horizon. Following this project she was a regular guest on radio K67. Moreover, she has
recorded sets for exemple for Disco Suicide, Amsterdam Techno Records or for the podcast Mind
Expression. In addition, she is a resident of HNT radio show called Electro Polymer from Bogotá.

In this dynamic follow-up to their 'Do You Even Acid?' compilation launched in 2020, queer-led Pacific Northwest label OBSKUR serves up a high-powered sampler of acid-laced tracks that embody the diversity of 2024's underground scene.

It kicks off with Seattle-based DJ/producer Mirin Doja's 'Golden,' remixed by LA dynamo Maude Vôs, a dreamy, downtempo bass-heavy vibe with crystalline trance elements. AWood's energetic 'Orbit' squeezes together a pulsing beat and hyperactive bassline with glowy synth pads, while 'Rave Therapy' by Delusional Records co-founder Marie Nyx cures what ails with classic four to the floor united with high-energy rave synths. Hammering kicks and trippy basslines pervade LA's CRTR's psytrance-infused workout 'Back Up,' followed by 'Eat That' by Chicago founder and co-head of Dark Heaven, Vorp, which takes us on a shadowy, complex acid journey dripping with bass and breaks.

Next up is Calgary DJ Byron Ferrari's 'Sunnyslope,' moody, raw and melodic with an irresistible 303 groove. International powerhouse Ani Klang's collaboration with NYC creative Senaida on 'Mutual Destruction' is a take-no-prisoners banger full of breakneck hard edged acid. The collection closes with Sanctum's introspective 'The Craft,' which pulls together a driving hypnotic bass groove and subtle psychedelic atmospheres.

'Do You Even Acid?' Volume 2 is an uplifting and electrifying compilation of dancefloor heaters from OBSKUR's worldwide network of women, queer*, and POC artists.

For episode thirty we welcome one of the midwest's finest, Kitty Spit! We've quietly admired Kitty's interesting and left field selections for some time now and are thrilled to be releasing this journey of a mix! 

If one was tasked with finding the beauty in accelerationism and to embody that idea in a sonic palette that you can dance to, they might come up with something very similar to this mix. Ethereal and haunting breaths from sources above and below the absolutely serious techno rhythms contained within.

Kitty Spit's process:
I made this mix using a Xone 92 and three XDJs. My approach and mixing style are pretty simple—I mostly just EQ and avoid using filters or effects. Honestly, I’m not quite sure how to describe my style because it feels new and different every time I touch the decks. What guides me most is my philosophy about dance music—what it means to me—and I let that shape my mixes. So, I’ll dive into that a bit to give you a better sense of what I’m aiming for when I create.

I have a couple of rules for myself when it comes to mixing, but they’re not set in stone or that serious. One of them is: once a track is on, it’s on—no re-cueing. Just bring it in. I try not to impose too many rules on my relationship with dance music because rules can create unnecessary limitations. Dance music doesn’t fit in a box; it’s not supposed to be any one way, which is one of the most special and beautiful things about it. I approach it as something magical that teaches me something new every time I engage with it. I don’t want to box myself in by thinking, “If I don’t do XYZ, I’m doing it wrong.” Being a bit lawless helps me feel good about what I’m doing.

Overall, I think DJing should be fun. Sure, take the craft seriously and always aim to do your best, but it’s not that serious. If it ever starts to feel like work or a chore, it’s no longer fun. I think there’s a tendency to put DJing on a pedestal, especially when we present ourselves publicly. People expect perfection, but that’s not realistic. I try not to obsess over making my mixes flawless. I practice at home all the time, and I still mess up. So, I expect little hiccups when I play, and it’s not the end of the world. Things happen—maybe I heard something differently in my headphones, or a track’s tempo shifted unexpectedly. I embrace those imperfections and roll with them. You make it work.. There’s always a way to recover, so just keep moving.
I think for many DJs, mixing is a visceral, emotional experience. It’s the feelings—the moments on the dance floor—that stick with you. You might not remember every track from a set, but you’ll remember how it made you feel, who you were with, and even the strangers you connected with, if only for that night. That’s part of what makes dance music so special. When I build my sets, I focus on creating a journey where each track evokes a feeling, and every transition is one emotion playing off the last one and pouring into the next. I feel like this may be DJing in a nutshell, but I achieve this by being patient, building tension, and releasing the tension when it feels right—a simple but effective formula that works for me. (:
