Mortatoriel is the "official" name of Underswap + Aftergore. It's not something we'll be pursuing much though. This was made as the one year "birthday present" to SPEICIDE, which came out one year ago today. While this doesn't religiously subscribe to any take, we did this with Tonyswap in mind, with a few extra references in there (mainly REANIMATION) just for good measure.

If you're curious about name: SPEICIDE meant "killing hope," and CONTRAMORPHEUS means "against dreams," so that we could swap hopes with dreams. Latin is fun.

While we're not exactly "Megalo people," we can't deny the tremendous impact SPEICIDE has had on Aftergore and our account. Our account has over triple the followers it had at this time last year, and SPEICIDE is what put Aftergore on the map for a lot of people. We thank you to everyone who has supported us, and there's plenty to come in the future! Deity Not Found (Error404 Sans Theme)

This is easily the most experimental I've ever gotten with a track. It captures a genre and tone I don't believe I've ever tackled before, and I used techniques and samples I've never even thought about using before. This is also the first time I've used premade drum loops in a song. Something in my gut has always told me that I would be frowned upon and stripped of my musical credibility if I were to use them in any song, but I actually enjoyed implementing/customizing them here and listening to the results. Probably the most fun I've had making a musical piece in a while. Hope you enjoy.

Undertale by Toby Fox has some frighteningly catchy music, not least of which is its boss music.  That in mind, sat down and jammed this out over the space of an evening.  

(Possible light spoilers)

It's not 100% accurate (Toby's chiptunes are meticulously detailed and I was rushing bits of it), and some of the transitions are pretty harsh, but it was fun to muck about with Toby's tunes again. Hopefully everything remains recognizable!

(Apologies to Undyne fans, just couldn't really fit her whole theme in with the rest, so jammed Spider Dance in there instead :p )

(Also this was dangerously close to just being 5 minutes of Bonetrousle)

I think this is the first time in the history of ever that I've remixed an AU twice in a row ( • ̀ω•́  )✧ I actually started this as soon as my last vid was uploaded, finished it up in around 20 hours, then took a break for about 11 days to just chill for a while and rest. Good news is, because I rested for a good bit, I can just jump into the next remix, whichever that might be.

As for my initial thoughts on this track in underverse's context, it definitely wasn't what I would have expected for a versus theme with these two, and that's a good thing (･ω･)/ I was glad that it wasn't a version of megalovania and instead was something original, which made it a lot more refreshing for me to remix. I think that's a great direction to go in and a good example to set that you don't *need* every iconic theme to be some form of megalovania or else it won't grab people's attention, because this theme certainly caught my eye as soon as I heard those first few chords.

As for my remix, I decided to go with a heavy bassline as usual, you know by now I can't resist eeEEEE d(･∀･○)

[Underverse Remix] SharaX - Inking Mistake (Ink Vs Error Battle Theme) (Original by NyxTheShield)

Hullo! I don't normally work with glitch effects because they tend to be difficult to get to work right in a rhythmic sense (without them being jarring af), so this was a bit of a more challenging track to write (ง •̀ω•́)ง✧ I haven't delved too much into other producers tracks for Error (both remixes or originals), so I went into this practically blind (moreso because it's also an original) but had a vague idea of what I wanted to write given what I know about him.

A strange trend I seem to be enjoying recently is writing tracks for "evil" characters that don't sound necessarily "evil"; I.e., my idea for this track and main goal was to write something fun, so the first thought that came to mind was opting for a swing styled beat. Granted I could have went with something more intimidating like DnB, but it would have been much harder to get that "fun" sound with a harder DnB rhythm and I most likely would've struggled with that uphill battle.

My next task was planning a melody that would stay true to the fun sound I wanted. The most important thing I needed to keep in mind is that I didn't want this to sound too much like Ravenous, which is styled in a similar way (very little reverb on any instrument, if any at all & with a general "fun" composition), but knowing Ravenous is styled to be both fun & disconcerting given it's Horrortale, all I had to do is avoid any atmospheric sounds, rhythms or melodies that could be interpreted as creepy.  Ḡ̴͎G̴̯̎ ̵̖͆E̶̛͙Z̵̦̃ ̴̼̈́r̷̹̚i̷͒ͅg̷̗̏h̶͖́t̷͙̅?̵̮̉

[Errortale Original] SharaX - Electrostatic

Hoi! Wanted to write something fun and decided to do something inspired from Nightmare (･ω･ )☆ I've been having a good time writing original music & Electrostatic honestly did a lot better than I had expected on the channel (to my pleasant surprise), so I thought "Hmm wouldn't it be fun if I wrote more original music inspired from other characters?" I didn't see too much on the music side of YT for Nightmare and this character had intrigued me quite a bit for years, so now was a good time to give it a shot.

My initial plan for this was to go industrial & abstract, but that quickly changed into some weird hybrid DnB. I also hadn't planned to incorporate so many melodic elements such as the chord progression drop at 1:17, but I fell in love with it and just had to keep it. I adored the contrast and it was a delicate little melodic accident I was really happy to happen upon. I'd say for sure it's my favorite part of the track, and that's coming from someone who loves her bass drops a bit too much sometimes (ง •̀ω•́)ง✧

Anywho, if you have any suggestions for AU characters I should write something for/check out, feel free to let me know! I've always enjoyed writing original music and I'm feeling up for challenges ( ﾟ▽ﾟ)/

[Dreamtale Original] SharaX - Malevolence

Aw Yeah! Underfresh was definitely one of the most popular requests across my last few vids so I thought I'd work on this AU first! Interesting fact about this track, I actually started something back in July, got about 50% done with it before I realized it wasn't the direction I wanted it to be in, so I saved that project for later (or may rework it into something else entirely) and started a new project and ended up with this. The drops were overhauled completely twice (as in, I was indecisive af and reworked them) In total this was a 27 hour track with a very slow decent into insanity because I couldn't figure out the direction of the drops, as I had several ideas I wanted to do but didn't know which to settle on. Good news is, now I have plenty of ideas for when I decide to revisit original music for underfresh (`•ω•´๑)

And thank you for the many suggestions on Malevolence! I had a ton of requests for AU's I recognized, but also a few that I was unfamiliar with or didn't know about at all. I've gone through and taken a closer look at many your suggestions and have my own list I've been putting together. I'm particularly interested in underrated AU's as well, so feel free to suggest ones that may not be as well known yet! I think there's some really good stories out there that have yet to be discovered & I would love to write music for (ง •̀ω•́)ง✧
