The idiosyncratic musical style and production practices by Sheldon, Sidney Thompson (aka Sid Le Rock) are shaped by the DIY electronic-music movement that has encouraged his creativity to develop and thrive since the late ’90s. This is a contributing factor to his impressive discography that currently stands at twelve albums under his various aliases, including Sid’s collaborations with artists from various fields and musical genres such as Depeche Mode, DJ Koze, Placebo, and persistent impressions of the journeys he has made throughout the world as a result of his live music performances.

His abounding talent and prolificacy hasn’t gone unnoticed, as Sid has regularly released on labels like Beachcoma, My Favourite Robot, Kompakt, Mute Records and Hafendisko. Likewise, the Toronto-born artist has been remixed by the likes of DJ Koze, Acid Pauli and Gui Boratto, while remixing Depeche Mode, Placebo, Gui Boratto, Fairmont, further underpinning his underground credibility. However, despite his solid studio credentials, he has never sought fame or attention, instead remaining devoted to his craft, an ethos that is fully manifested in his productions.

The idea behind the mixtape was to treat dubby and percussive sounds as a kind of palette rather than anchoring myself to a specific genre. I’ve always had quite an eclectic taste, and my sets have naturally reflected that. After having been quite chaotically genre-fluid since I started DJing, I feel as though I am finally finding my own sound, where there’s plenty of room for fluidity but feels much more intentional and personal to me.

I wanted the mix to act almost like an ID or self-portrait, pulling together the styles I gravitate towards most at the moment. It’s an introspective recalibration of my sound and intent, merging deep sub-bass with forward-thinking, deconstructed styles that prompt both movement and reflection. There’s a strong emphasis on hypnotic, percussive, dubbed-out cuts, playing with tension and release, and navigating the line between moody and fun.

I felt brave enough to push myself out of my comfort zone and attempt a polyrhythmic transition where I blend a chuggy 3 bar loop at 110 BPM with a 4/4 dubstep track at 146 BPM. I also threw a 3 deck mix in there just for good measure :P It was a bit of a workout but worth the sweat!

I’ve also recently been quite fascinated in how dubstep is being reimagined, which allows a broader palette of sounds to feel at home within its framework. I tried to reflect that by including influences from outside traditional club genres that still feel very relevant to my sound.

In a nutshell, the mix is an appreciation of dubwise textures, UK soundsystem culture and global club and percussive sounds, tied together by a lot of introspection which should hopefully invite people to dance and also listen.

Captain Mustache is a French music producer and DJ from Paris.

Since 2020, he has released music on some of the most respected labels in the electronic scene: Kompakt, Mobilee, Exploited, Permanent Vacation, Helena Hauff's Return To Disorder, and an album on John Digweed's Bedrock Records, with consistent support from top DJ's around the world.

As a true electronic music lover, he has collaborated with some electro icons (Dave Clarke, Arnaud Rebotini, Chicks on Speed, The Advent, Keith Tucker from AUX88...), adding an extra vocal dimension to his music.

In 2023 he reached a career milestone with a full album called "The Super Album" on the legendary label KOMPAKT Records, with the privilege to join the short list of artists having signed an LP on this label, such as Kölsch, Agents Of Time or WhoMadeWho.

In 2025 he's coming with a new album called "LUZ" on beloved Berlin's label MOBILEE, a new achievement for him as an artist and a special step in his career.

He is now widely recognized for several standout tracks:

Having dreamed of becoming a DJ since childhood, he is now living his dream, recently touring around the world, USA, Mexico, Bahrain, and across Europe (Germany, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Bulgaria, Andorra...).

Inspired by space disco pioneers, Detroit techno and electroclash, his sound can be defined as romantic & burlesque.

Silicone Soul welcome the return of old friend Justin Robertson as he brings his much-loved Deadstock 33s project back to Darkroom Dubs. Last spotted on the label only a matter of weeks ago with ‘Infinite Interchange’ on the ‘Darkroom Dubs Presents Summer Love’ collection, here he builds on the momentum with two more singular missions deep into the timeless analogue abyss. What’s more, they come covered with a print of one of Justin’s very own hand-drawn pieces.

‘Dr. Spectro On The Frontier’ marks the start of this new Deadstock trip. Celebrating the lesser spotted DC super-villain who could control people’s emotions with a brazen line or two of sinewy acid; what starts off dark and gnarly gradually unfolds into a much more emotional narrative. Watch out for the harmonic riff that rekindles feels of raving fields and a salvo of chords towards the climax that genuinely will control your emotions.

‘The Music Is Madness (To Those Who Cannot Hear It)’, meanwhile, is more than just a poetic title. Already a summer anthem at A Love From Outer Space, it's a roomy, cosmic affair that’s laced with layers of trippy textures and chugs at a cool 120. It’s one of Justin’s classic signature smouldering sessions; what ostensibly seems forlorn and introspective is actually coded with deep hope and positivity. You’d be mad not to hear it.

You’d be mad not to stay tuned too… For the first time in Darkroom Dubs history, this release and all this year’s vinyl dispatches will be released digitally as part of an end of year compilation, ‘Tales From Underground Vol. 1’ and will also feature an exclusive Silicone Soul remix of Rigopolar & Cannibal Ink’s 'Thousand Years Before'. And to round the year off? The long-awaited new single from Silicone Soul themselves.

One of the most prominent producers and DJ in the Mexican electronic music scene, Paulor is an architect by trade but harbors a multi-discipline skill set going well beyond his professional training – he’s really good, for example, at having fun with guitar riffs and drum hits. Deciding to take his passion to the next level, he started making the rounds as a DJ staple for everything from Soul, Funk, Disco, and brushes of rock to contemporary electronic dance music, landing him a coveted residency spot at the legendary TOPAZdeluxe in Monterrey. A close friend for years, PAULOR chose Rebolledo as the first critic of his own production work – and got the Pachanga Boy immediately hooked on the sheer musicality abounding in it. It’s what lead to essential contributions to “A Very Nice Combinado Volume Dos” and Rebolledo’s remix album “Mondo Re- Alterado” - potent primers for the artist’s first solo EP on You And Your Hippie Friends, which also includes the infamous cut “Paulor’s Blues”, finally bringing this secret cult favorite amongst heavy rollers to the masses.
