I would tweak the piano here.  It seems to be out of step.  That's my only major concern for this track!

I think it would be wise of you to spend more time recording music.  You have the talent needed to get serious with this and I think you should do it.  While I was listening to the song, I definitely had a lot of melodies going on in my mind.  Don't worry about the lo-fi quality if it's all you're equipment can do right now -- just keep making new recordings.  You'll get better equipment eventually, but don't wait for the equipment before you begin building your body of work!  You can always re-rerecord a song that sticks with you!

Hello loves. Last year I quit my job, my life, packed my things into storage and left my small apartment in Burbank to head back home to Colorado. I didn't know what I was going to do with myself, I was feeling heartbroken and terrified. I stopped for some food in Salt Lake City and The Cardigans "Lovefool" came on in the restaurant. It filled me with so much nostalgia as I loved to sing this song when I was just 6 years old. At 6 this song felt so fun and lighthearted, but at 26 I really heard the lyrics for the first time. It's a damn tragedy; this poor girl just wants to be loved and the guy doesn't give a shit. I've been there, and it hurts, it really hurts. So I decided I must cover this song and give it the emotion that the lyrics command. 

Months later I finally got my life together and moved back to the mountains of California to find myself and become an actual full time musician. I had this cover tucked away on my hard drive, you know so many songs stay there and never see the light of day. I showed the cover to Everett Lee-Sung and Devin Schiro and they were pumped to create a music video for me in Devin's house (he basically lives in a castle). You can watch the video here:
