Hi everyone, my name is Aaron and I’ve been on the decks since I was 7 yrs old. Started off learning how to beat match with house music in 1994, my sister’s boyfriend was the one teaching me how to spin on 2 Technics 1200. By 1995 I got into Hard House and going to record stores became my new hobbies. My mom would drive me to different record stores where I would spend hours just listening to music and starting my own vinyl collection. I was on the hunt to find the Tetris track by Mike Flores and Dj Flaver. It was an adventure seeking out to find tracks and finding new music on the way. I ended up finding multiple different tracks of Tetris and creating an epic case of Hard House records. 

In the summer of 1997, my friend Mike came over and showed me a mix tape called “Slam Evil” by a Dj named Paulina Taylor. Just from the name of the Dj I thought it was a girl and hoping she was hot! Lol The mixtape was a genre called Happy Hardcore! I was like HOLY SHIT what is this??? It’s songs that I know but they are faster than Hard House and got me moving like no other. I asked him where do they dance to this? He said at raves, I then asked “What’s a Rave?” After that history was made and stuck with me for my entire lifetime. Went to my first rave in August 97 and saw Paulina Taylor spin in front of me, finding out it was a Japanese guy who became my best friend til this day. 

In 1998 I switched from playing Hard House to Happy Hardcore and new genres I was introduced to such as Trance, Hardcore, Happy Gabber, Speedcore, and Jungle at the time. I went to various record stores in Hollywood on Melrose Ave like Beat Non Stop (later turned into Temple of Boom), DMC Records and Groove Riders in Sherman Oaks. I was collecting flyers left and right and stumbled across Dr. Freeclouds in Costa Mesa where I met legendary Ron D Core and his wife Helen. The rave scene, DJs and Producers have now become my family as we all connected under the music we love. 

By 2000 I picked up a Rave N’ Beats record at Groove Riders. The record had an address on it with a website called phusion records. It gave me an address to a store in Los Angeles with wall to wall of Happy Hardcore. My mom drove me there immediately from Groove Riders. When I arrived I met a guy named Saije aka Smileshot and owner of Rave N’ Beats records. He helped me find songs that I was searching for and on my first trip there I spent over $500. I was shocked to know I had so many songs I heard on the happy hardcore tapes that I loved listening to. Saije was not just my record dealer but became my best friend and he helped me get bookings to play at raves where I spun at the Fox Theater, The Masterdome, the Glasshouse, the Holiday Skate in Rialto and the Orion. 

While growing up learning about this music, I started branching out and learning about the producers where I started to become friends with the creators of Happy Hardcore. While playing at raves I got to be on flyers with legends such as UFO, Stompy, Kurt, Darren Styles, Scott Brown, Dougal and Gammer, Vinylgroover, Dune and many more. The scene has been an influence in my life and the music I love til this day still beats in my heart and keeps me on the dance floor!
