Sir Dub Muzik welcomes back I.T.Z for his second release on the label: the Velvet Gloom EP. Across two cuts, he dives deeper into his darker side, blending heavy pressure with eerie atmospheres to shape a sound that’s unmistakably his own.

“Interzone” sets the tone with ghostly textures, sharp percussion, and a driving low-end that pulls the listener straight into its shadowy world. It’s cold, hypnotic, and built for the system.

Flipping over, “Ilmu Hitam” (Malay for black magic) brings a rawer energy. Menacing sound design and rolling basslines twist around ritual-like percussion, summoning an intensity that feels both ancient and futuristic.

With Velvet Gloom, I.T.Z sharpens his vision—two tracks that balance weight with atmosphere, and mark another step forward.

Each track functions as an independent chapter, yet together they build a coherent narrative that reflects an emotional passage: from dawn to night, from stillness to expansion, from the intimate to the expansive.

The opening piece, **“Solitary Sequence,”** opens the door to an introspective world. Its minimalist and repetitive structure conveys the sensation of a pattern unfolding slowly, like a thought repeating in the mind until it becomes a landscape. It is a track that invites solitary reflection, where time seems to stretch and the sonic texture becomes almost tangible.

In contrast, **“Twilight Mosaic”** proposes a tapestry of richer and more colorful sounds, evoking the hues of twilight. The melodic layers overlap like pieces of a mosaic that shimmer differently depending on perspective. There is a play of light and shadow that adds dynamism while maintaining a meditative air.

With **“Winding Harmony,”** the album flows toward a more organic exploration. Its progressions recall winding paths that are never linear, generating a sense of continuous, shifting movement. The harmony twists and unfolds in new directions, reinforcing the idea of a journey in constant evolution.

**“Resonant Dawn”** offers a luminous respite, as if the listener awakens to a newly lit horizon. Darkwood is the darkpsy/forest/experimental psy project birthed by Aidan. Growing up with parents having roots in the psy scene, I have always enjoyed psychedelic music from a young age. I really enjoy computers and electronics, as well as tinkering with different software and ideas. The merging of my creative side and my technical analytical side, as well as my absolute love for all things psychedelic led me to the idea of producing and mixing music.

This project is my journey into the exploration of light and dark psychedelia. Between organic and machine. My goal is to share a piece of myself as well as a part of the unknown in my music. Making the unknown known. Sequencing chaos into symphony...

Leave all rules at the door, this project is designed and curated to be one of borderless exploration. Boundaries define limitations, letting go of this is paramount to the enjoyment of my sound! <3
