The S.O.J. have been writing, recording, and producing their own mix of rock, pop, folk, & electronic music since the 1990's.
Throughout their long career the band have remained totally independent. Despite rarely performing live, The S.O.J. have continually produced some highly regarded music.

In 2001 their debut album, ‘A Definition Of Music’, was recorded completely live with no additional overdubs.
The follow-up album, ‘Tadpoles On Telegraph Wires’, used multi-track recording and features one their most popular songs. When The S.O.J. released ‘Cold Fire (Acoustic)’ online ahead of the album in early 2004, it quickly reached the top of the folk charts. Over 20 years later it’s still one of their most popular songs.
‘May Contain Artificial Adjectives’, was released in 2009. Although mostly instrumental, the album featured their unique lyric driven song ‘Ain't Life Strange’.
Following this album the band took a hiatus, eventually returning in 2022 with their fourth album, ‘Binary’. Despite the lengthy hiatus of more than 10 years, The S.O.J. produced a modern sounding album that still retained their unique mix of rock, electronic, and folk music.
