Chronicles of Trance is a six-hour odyssey spanning across 25 Acts, which feature a grand total of 164 tracks. 

Inspired by mixes such as Oleg Mosins (aka Black Plasma) “Transcendence - A History of Trance”,  and albums such as Joris Voorns “Balance 014” and "Global Underground 043" and of course Armin van Buurens end of year A State of Trance episodes, this mix provides my interpretation of a set that relies on the application of inventive blends. 

Utilising intricate transitions, innovative layering and harmonic mixing to produce a cohesive sonic journey, this mix makes full use of the sync button, with up to 4 decks playing at any given time and utilisation of loops, snippets, acapellas and on the fly edits using cue points. 

It was a challenge and pushed my boundaries as an artist but was also an absolute pleasure to record. The mix aims to capture the essence of trance and progressive tracks from the golden era in its most expansive form.

If I'm honest, I surprised myself by how little planning went into the mix and by how much of it was a result of on the fly selections. Much more than just a selection of bootlegs, (admittedly something I’ve never been a big fan of), I’ve tried to ensure that each track and transition plays its own part and represents itself whilst adding to the holistic journey and direction of the mix.

Here is the second installment to my Gatecrasher Experiences series. This series will be focusing on the tracks that were one of the clubbing  pioneers of the best era of dance music, known as  Gatecrasher. In this second episode in the series, I have focused more on a peak time style mix, including some of the best known tracks of Classic Trance, which also have been played at Gatecrasher events or been featured on the brand's compilations throughout the years. Thankyou for the great response and feedback for the first episode, it absolutely blew me away. I only hope I can achieve the same with this episode and future episodes. The sun was blazing, the beats were pounding and Nottingham was on fire (not literally, thankfully) as the LostWeekend took over the banks of the River Trent! This incredible all-day festival brought together some of the biggest names in the scene and it was an absolute treat to step behind the decks and inject some Trance magic on the Insomniacz REBOOTED stage.

This one was special and was more than just a set – it was a moment. The vibe was pure euphoria, and the Insomniacz and REBOOTED brands, once again raised the bar. My set was crafted with care – a potent blend of original Trance classics, fresh reworks and a few long-lost forgotten gems pulled from the archives to keep the energy riding high and the crowd completely locked in.

The atmosphere? Exuberant. The production? Top shelf. The crowd? Unstoppable. Seeing so many familiar faces and new fans alike coming together to lose themselves in the music reminded me of why we do what we do – to create lasting memories through the power of Trance.

Evening all, here is the next episode of Gatecrasher Experiences. I have invited Bret Hayward to share his version of a classic Crasher mix, with tracks that have inspired him over the years, starting us off with the early mix, beginning the journey with the amazing instrumentals of Hybrid - Finished Symphony and then builds slowly into some Techy tracks and finishes on a nice Proglift. I then finish off with the late mix, starting with some of the more well known Uplifting tracks, into more Tech classics, and finishing with some harder edge Trance.
