
Squire first came to notice  supporting The Jam at their hometown concert in Surrey, July 1978. Following their first record Get Ready To Go In February 1979, Squire became leaders of the 1979 UK Mod Revival scene, along with The Purple Hearts, The Chords and Secret Affair, appearing on the legendary Mods Mayday album and joined I Spy Records releasing Walking Down The Kings Road with anthemic Its A Mod Mod world on flip side. Two more singles appeared Face Of Youth Today, and My Mind Goes Round In Circles, with guest Kirsty MacColl, before Anthony formed Hi-lo Records to take Squire forward. 
Squire / Hi-lo Records released 10 Squire Albums and Singles in the 1980's, including the psychedelic No Time Tomorrow, orchestral pop album Get Smart and power pop September Gurls to worldwide acclaim. Squire played last concert in San Francisco in 1986 whereon Anthony continued with Hi-lo Records releasing albums by San Diego's Manual Scan, Canada's Beat Direction and UK's The Jetset,
In 1990 Meynell concentrated on writing and studio work with neo folk Cartoon Mayhem and Sunshack studios, with Meynell lending production duties to eager visiting pop bands. In 1994, his first solo album Passengers On Trains was released, a combination of neo folk and pop. In 1997, a second album, the conceptual pop album Sugarplum - Blue Summer Days. debuting live in Los Angeles in 1997. 
In 1999, Squire headlined the 20th Anniversary Mods Mayday concert in London and continued to play special selected dates in Spain, Italy, Ireland, returning to California in 2008. In 2006 Anthony and Squire were honoured with the release of Get Ready To Go tribute album bringing together 20 international bands playing Squire's songs, the only Mod Revival band to be so acclaimed. Hilo Records released Squire remastered CD series in 2007. Squire continue to play selected live dates, are now recording tracks for the Girl Go By album project. Anthony is also revisiting the legendary lost Smash Album sessions for possible future release.
