DakhaBrakha is a quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine, experimenting with Ukrainian folk music since the group's inception in 2004, combining an array of instruments from around the world with powerful and uncompromising vocal performances. For the latest release on their ever-impressive Human By Default imprint, label heads Bedouin rework four tracks from DakhaBrakha’s catalogue, fusing the captivating vocals and instrumentation of the quartet with their pitch-perfect production.

Leading the A-side is their reinterpretation of ‘Salgir Boyu’, with shuffling percussion and organic loops providing the backdrop for stunning elements of the original to shine. The rework of ‘A Doshchuk Nakrapaye’ follows, with DakhaBrakha’s vocals fading in and out of the background as Bedouin’s gentle synthesis and evolving drums carry the track. On the flip, ‘Svyryd’ sees hypnotic drones and bright shakers evolve alongside a rolling bassline before closer ‘Yahudky’ seeks more electronic territories, bringing tense strings and unfurling synths together to see out the release.

Taken from their acclaimed album Sounds Of The Universe, written by Martin Gore and produced by Ben Hillier, Peace is one of the standout tracks from the brand new record and the follow-up to first single, Wrong. Peace was written back-to-back with Little Soul from the album and their spiritual element forms a cornerstone to SOTU. Weve had spiritual references on previous records, with this one its a little more obvious. says Martin. The track features exquisitely placed electronics and cathartic choral refrains from Dave Gahan and Martin Gore.

Sander commented, "I have been a fan of Depeche Mode since I was a young so to be asked to do a remix for them is beyond a dream come true. 'Peace' is outstanding and one of my favourite tracks off the album".

Sander's remix gives the best in elec-tech for the big floors and justifies his meteoric rise to fame, illustrating why he is one of the most in demand producers and DJs in the world.

In the autumn of 2006 was the first time I hear it on radios and MTV, at that stage I was almost 18 and already pro-active in electronic music production. I always appreciated how hands-on the guys were with their 12" singles. "Martyr", for me, is a masterpiece moment. This arrangement gives the layers, keys, and chords a chance to breathe and shine. Taking the song to a totally different emotional level for me. I listened to it so many times that it's my "go to" DM song for any mood I may be in. That's why I decided to score the goal and made a remix that collects all my devotion and respect to this historical masterpiece.
