Berlin-based duo Booka Shade, aka Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, have carved out a reputation as one of the most celebrated electronic acts to come out of Europe over the past two decades. 

With their beginnings in Frankfurt and their sights originally on synth-pop, the duo Booka Shade quickly gained a strong following within electronic music, and in 2002 the pairing formed the now legendary dance label Get Physical Music (together with M.A.N.D.Y., Thomas ‘DJ T.’ Koch and Peter Hayo), where they would have a platform for their own music. 

Three years later, in 2005, their EP’s ‘Mandarine EP’ and ‘Body Language’ - the latter co-produced with M.A.N.D.Y. - launched Booka Shade into the stratosphere with both EPs becoming international successes, whilst the following years soon welcomed an extensive body of work featuring a combination of stand out albums and singles that quickly achieved further global success.

Since their break-through performance at Sónar in 2005, Booka Shade have earned huge recognition with their innovative live shows, even being named one of Resident Advisor's Top 5 live acts in the world in 2010. They have opened for legendary acts such as Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk, whilst headlining stages at the likes of Coachella, Glastonbury, Rock Werchter, and Red Rocks just to name a few. In recent years, the band has appeared amongst the likes of DJ Mag’s ‘Alternative Top 100 DJ List’ (2018), whilst their notable live sets have led to key mentions amongst a host of distinguished festival reviews and round-ups, including placement within DJ Mag’s ’10 Unforgettable Sets From The History Of Exit Festival’.

Booka Shade were also inducted into Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 Hall of Fame, having received strong support from the station throughout their careers, playing at both the ‘40 Years of Radio 1’ celebration with Annie Nightingale and the ‘20 Years of Essential Mix’ party, whilst also mixing Pete Tong’s ‘All Gone Ibiza’ compilation album. 

The duo’s fan base is in no way restricted to electronic music enthusiasts, with great success playing slots at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Lollapalooza, and more by utilising their massive crossover potential, which is as evident in their billings as it is in their remix credits, including acts like Depeche Mode, Moby, Hot Chip, Kings of Leon, Woodkid, The Knife and many more.

Add to the mix their Blaufield Music imprint, founded in 2013, and it’s clear and easy to see the pairing's musical knowledge not only as producers but also adept A&R’s, with releases to date on the imprint from both emerging and established talent alongside their own productions resulting in a string of releases and collaborations that can be regularly found amongst the upper end of Beatport’s Top 100 charts and championed by many of the industry’s biggest names.

Twenty years, dozens of EP’s and six albums later, Booka Shade have become more than a household name, they have become synonymous with the spirit which drives electronic music and have set a precedent to which electronic music is still held to today.

Melting Pot is one of the longest running clubs in the UK (16 years and counting in 2017), giving DJs such as Floating Points, Mr Scruff, Greg Wilson, Joey Negro, Danny Krivit, Joaquin "Joe" Claussell, Francois K,  and Cosmo the opportunity to play whatever they feel: disco, house, techno, funk, soul and beyond. None of this would be possible without the fabulously knowledgeable Glasgow dancers that have taken us into their hearts. The final ingredient is the attention to detail we pay to our sound system which has made it one of the best sounding anywhere, with our guests raving about it!

Peza has been a fixture in the electronic music scene for longer than he cares to admit! When he is not locked away in his studio in deepest darkest Shropshire he can be found playing at clubs and festivals up and down the UK and beyond.

His travels have taken him to stages at festivals and countries such as Switzerland, Beat-Herder Festival, Kala Festival (Albania), Convenanza (France), Evil Acid Barons Weekender, Campo Sancho,Festival No6 and Alfresco, among others. Regularly spinning in European cities such as Tirana, Ibiza, Vienna, and Berlin, he brings an eclectic blend of Acid House, Nu-Disco, House, Electro, and Breakbeat—basically, anything with that indefinable magic.


A master of the unexpected, Peza’s sets are known for his signature edits—breathing new life into forgotten gems or obscure oddities and seamlessly weaving them into the mix. blending music together that you wouldn't necessarily expect, but somehow managing to make it work.

Remixes and collaboration credits include artists such as Gorillaz, Damon Albarn, Joe Goddard, Baba Ali, Greg Wilson, Black Grape, The Duke Spirit, Liela Moss, Dicky Trisco, Mike Smith (Gorillaz/Blur), amongst many others.

Peza is also an integral part of Greg Wilson's 'Credit To The Edit' collective. DJ'ing alongside Greg, Derek Kaye and Henry Greenwood.

''Basement sounds for sleepless nights''


Something changed when the then 20 year-old Tallmen 785 a.k.a Brian Mitchell heard King Tubby and Lee Perry for the first time. Those dub-wise sounds reverberated through his body unearthing a desire to seek out all the music he had yet to discover. A quest that inevitably led him to seek out further sounds from the past and the future, which inevitably led him into the gripping hands of Techno. Shortly thereafter Brian saw it necessary to change his surroundings and so, a move from NYC where he was playing guitar with the likes of jazz legend Ornette Coleman, Lawrence D. ''Butch'' Morris, and many in the improvised music scene, to Berlin (a path taken by many) seemed to produce anything but cliché results. From here the sounds of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Sandwell District, Basic Channel, Ben Klock and numerous trips to Berlin’s fabled Berghain, filled the gaps between playing guitar for numerous bands and performing regularly with Jochen Arbeit (Einstürzende Neubauten). This balance of Electronic music and organic instrumentation created a balance that led him away from blatant Techno mimicry, but rather to create his own unique sonic interpretations. Most of the elements in his tracks are made from guitar sounds that go through an extensive filtration process to realise an aesthetic that does not derive from drum machines and synths. His 20 plus years of musical training ripple through his current Techno productions, which is why his sound can seem somewhat alien, but yet so familiar.
