Hi. I'm Mary. I've been writing music as long as I can remember. When I was a kid, I would ride around on my rollerblades through my neighborhood writing songs about princesses with too many shoes and about my friends who changed and became people I didn't know. In some small way, I still write the same way. I may have traded my rollerblades for a Toyota, but I'm still that little kid, riding around writing about life. Writing about everything that happens to me.

I believe that the true value of a song is in the lyrics. The melody may draw you in, but it's the lyrics that make you stay. It's the lyrics that break your heart or put it back together. And that's why I've spent my life trying to be as honest and truthful in song as possible.

It's a country music cliché, but Harland Howard said it best. Country music is just three chords and the truth. All I can say is, even if you don't like my three chords, I hope you like my truth.
