KONCEPT Podcast: 021 - AKĀSHIC MACHINE

From the primeval waters to the implosion, the essence of KĀ pervades as an entity of embodied duality. Through alchemical experiments that merge polarities and fuse modalities - The sound “KĀ” echoes cosmic darkness, drenched in dense ambient waters, shaken by cataclysmic pulsations and interstellar vibrations. By creating an archetype to serve as a deviation from genre defined techno, KĀ whips up a relentless hypnotic concoction of deep techno infused with intention and sonic medicine. Following their recent EP release AKĀSHIC MACHINE, an extension of KĀ has been un/leashed like an autonomous machine. The creation of the project serves to open a portal into a distorted realm of frequency - an exuberant release of the past into the present, shedding emotion and shifting through tempo and resonance. KĀ has been nurtured by a multiverse of creative projects and landscapes of divination - the early seeds were sewn in the foundations of the techno community, drawing inspiration from the nature of the dance floor and how it can serve as an evanescent container for collective consciousness. 



“Traveling constantly with the deep desire to explore music and subculture served as a pathway for me to physically tune in to a vastness of sonic experiences. From the South African festival scene to New York noise, to Berlin techno institutions and beyond - constant reinvention and rediscovery led to feeling sound and presence deeply and noticing how it was constantly moving and shifting my body through time. Existing in gratitude for dance music as I grow with it, surrendering to innate and intuitive responses and impulses that draw me to experience the sound that I desire - IS the core of my mixing style and selection choice. Berlin has definitely pushed me to push the tempo, in a way that’s moved me out of my comfort zone and our intimate scene in South Africa. I disregard fitting into a specific mold with my sound, because I embody the dark and the light, the earth and the ether, serenity and chaos. I have come to accept being present within polarity, simply observing the oscillation. “

Electric Indigo started her DJ career in Vienna 1989 and lived in Berlin for three years [1993-1996] to work at the legendary Hard Wax record store. In those years, she also began to produce music, first releases came out in 1993. 10 years later, she started her own label indigo:inc recordings which is sound asleep nowadays... In 1998, she founded female:pressure an international database and network for female artists in the fields of electronic music and digital arts which was awarded with an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2009. She received the "outstanding artist award Musik 2012" in the category electronic music and computer music and the national grant for composition 2013 from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture. 

She has performed in 38 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas representing a intelligent and distinguished interpretation of techno and electronic music. Her DJ-sets are characterized by a wide variety with a clarity of vision and a depth that comes from a deep understanding of the music and the art of DJing. As a composer and musician, she creates music for concert spaces, clubs, sound installations and occasionally for stage plays and short films. Electric Indigo shuttles between Vienna and Berlin.

"Ichinen" was born from the strong connection between Roberto Bosco and Kiny, both founders of Last Drop Records imprint. The style is indeed a unique mix of different approaches and visions. The sudden encounter of these two souls marks a decisive synergy of sounds. Ichinen is determination at its purest form: relentless impulse, constantly striving for the realization of music in order to go beyond the ordinary logic of reality.
In 2016 they returns on their label with "A Morning Without Glory", the first official track under new Ichinen monicker with remixes by Dasha Rush and Etapp Kyle.

TF #175: @cassegrain [Arcing Seas] - Berlín

In techno circles, Cassegrain shouldn't need too much of an introduction. With a label résumé that includes, among others, Prologue, Infrastructure New York, Killekill, and Ostgut Ton—as well as highly regarded performances at Berghain, Village Underground, and Output—they've more than stamped their name on the scene. Alex Tsiridis and Hüseyin Evirgen—the two artists behind Cassegrain—formed the project after a chance meeting at the Redbull Music Academy in Barcelona. In the years following, they collaborated remotely via email, sending stems back and forth before making a move to Berlin where they currently share a studio.

Cassegrain are releasing their music mainly on their own label Arcing Seas. Under their solo monikers they are also steadily putting out great music. Magna Pia recently had a new EP out on Soma Records and Rhyw on great platforms like Shifted's label Avian.

Daryn Steytler is a Techno producer from South Africa, Cape Town/Stellenbosch. His underground sound of production has seen this young talent play various spaces across the country.  Coming from a drummers background he uses interesting drum rhythms with raw ambiances, Modular sequences and tight percussions. Daryn Steytler is also the founder and director of LINKED which is an event company that feeds into the ever growing techno scene in Cape Town.
