I found Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Jesters just a bit to lacking in levity ... more like a march than a dance. So I felt I needed to play with it to make it more fitting for jesters. My jesters may be just a bit tipsy as they dance....

This piece starts with Debussy's "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun" (itself inspired by Mallarme's poem "The Afternoon of a Faun"). I distorted this in various ways and added forest sounds and vocalizations of various sorts (including laughter), also distorted in various ways. Here is the result.

I started this with a couple of tracks recorded from live belly dance performances, including both the music and audience response. I distorted these in various ways. I added further distorted vocalizations. Then I added a couple of tracks, deep in the background, of distorted bongo beats. Perfect for that secret beatnik experimental dance party ....
