Who's the sharpest of them all?




Bringing house elements to a classic hip-hop recipe, Dash Machete's sound is both familiar and unique. Her sharp punchlines, soul-lifting vocals, and hip-hop percussions are reminiscent of Sade, Azealia Banks, and Doja Cat. The radiant Caribbean vibe frequently woven into her songs distinguishes her music from several of her R&B/Hiphop counterparts. Growing up, Dash heard everything from Kelis, to The Beatles to disco in her home. Later being introduced to Lauryn Hill. In her 2017 ‘Jigsaw’ EP, Dash Machete illustrates the journey of artistry and finding her way through music. The whimsical flutes, airy violins, and vibrant piano chords go hand in hand with pop-R&B and hip-hop vibes. In her latest performance on W20’s platform, she leans into a more pop performance of the fierce and vulnerable single “Canvas”. It’s not often you see such range and dynamics from emerging artists, but it’s safe to say the world’s a better place with Dash sharing her music
