On the milestone of our 5th release, we gave ourselves at Ritter Butzke Studio a very special gift - A release by no other than Schlepp Geist. He is presenting us his "Back to the Basics EP”: Please dive in with us too, and feel the unique theme in every single track of this piece. All along the EP, the honest "hand-made" House music surrounds you, riddled with vocals by Schlepp Geist himself. No bells and whistles here. The cherry on top is a great remix by "Mr.Vibe" Patryk Molinari!

The opening title track "Back to the Basics" sets the direction instantly. Massive analog drumming, deep lead basses, pitched synthesized melody, sprinkled with catchy vocals - This piece is a synthesis of the arts! Right after this kick you will find the A2 "Purple Horizon": A Deep, spherical track with the intense DNA as its big brother – a definite must have for the upcoming Festivals & Open-Air season!

Welcome to the B-Side. Which we find as giving the proper contrast to this release. Starting with “Urban Camouflage" original mix, which shows the laid-back angle of Schlepp Geist. This is an impressive marvelous, atmospheric track, with dreamy pads and soothing warm vocals, which is exactly the element that is built upon the remix of Patryk Molinari, which presents it in an uplifting approach that respects the vitality of the original nevertheless.

The moment you will listen to the tracks yourself, you will feel the confidence of this release. We think of it as a unique musical cinema!

Blitz & Donner EP – Oliver Huntemann

Senso, the brand-new imprint from Hamburg’s Oliver Huntemann, delivers its debut release from the boss himself. And, what a way to introduce his latest endeavor - two tracks of exceptionally focused, highly charged and deeply sophisticated techno from the heart.

Huntemann has always shied away from the limelight, preferring to let his prolific body of work and prodigious skills behind the decks do the talking. With this release, he again manages to leave an indelible mark on the techno heritage of northern Europe. Donner is a epic 9-plus minute workout of muscular beats, off kilter percussion and tense, minimal melodies – a master class in the art of building tension and its eventual release. Similarly, Blitz weaves a narrative out of a terse, tightly wound groove and elements that gradually build and build, stoking the fire. Metallic, buzzing synths fire and recede, ultimately exposing the jagged machine funk core of another exceptional Huntemann transmission.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

AEON010 is the result of careful devotion to perfection by AEON label manager and globally renowned electronic music prodigy, German DJ, producer - Alex Niggemann.

Being the 10th in a line of successful releases from his newest label, it is a collection of the artists and compositions that helped AEON grow and flourish, aiding the imprint to stand tall in such a rife industry. On this VA we found one track which spoke to us mostly: Musumeci's 'Eclipse'. It's a beautifully crafted synth-driven story, that is being told by the Sicilian DJ/Producer. Dan Curtin's ninth album, "Lifeblood", will be released on mobilee records in April and as his first album in three years, we think there is ample cause for celebration. With an epic 16 tracks, it's a diversified whole that rewards a sustained, concentrated listening, but it is also at ease being broken down and carted off in DJ bags. For this very purpose, and as a special teaser for the album, Dan invited renowned remixer and producer from Amsterdam, DJ Madskillz, to cook up his own special interpretation of "Mr Bean Do An E"., and the result is set to cause some club chaos.
 
With a very successful career behind him and over 90 productions in his wake, DJ Madskillz is one of the most prolific DJs in the Netherlands. He boasts a discography which would impress most, not to mention an extensive list of remixes including Christian Smith and Reset Robot's "Air Miles", which caused such a stir, Beatport practically had to kick it out of the Top 10 Techno House charts at the end of last year since it seemed it would never leave. He brings an equally high standard of craftsmanship to this release, injecting it full of his signature energy and bounce, literally sending the Mr Beans on the dancefloor into a frenzy... this is one to let loose to!

Mark Jenkyns is back onboard the Hot Creations imprint, this time featuring vocalist MC Chickaboo. 12 Stories (Mark & Chris Sylvester) are on remix duty for their debut on the label, and what a killer release it is!

‘On Me’ oozes with funk, groovy basslines and sonic madness, perfect additions to the Hot Creations catalogue and proving each of the artists involved know exactly what works on the dance floor. Getting heavy support from Jamie Jones & Richy Ahmed & Lee Foss, it looks like another hot-hitter from Hot Creations.

Mark hooked up with MC Chickaboo in light of her legendary work she did with Ewan Pearson & DJ Wildchild.  MC Chickaboo is a female drum and bass DJ and rapper from London. In 2002 she shot to fame when her collaboration with Timo Mass went to number one on the Billboard chart.

12 Stories is the fresh duo Mark Jenkyns and Christopher Sylvester and they will be making their full debut on Hot Creations early this summer..

2015 will see German techno mainstay Stephan Bodzin ready to unleash his next full-length musical vision on the world. Entitled “Powers of Ten”, the 10-track album will land in June 2015 on his own Herzblut Recordings and provides another great insight into the melodically rich muscle mind of this modern great.
Says Stephan Bodzin of the LP: “Powers of Ten has been with me all my life and is named after a book that has been my background hiss, its confusing truth is my only real faith and its infinity shows me its finiteness. The album is about harmonies, melodies, rhythms. It is an homage to Bob Moog, full of techno beats and sounds and space and party and ecstasy and dancing and listening, and crying and feeling. It is a journey, a philosophy of life, a view of the world, a vague perception. It is my wife, my children, my family, my friends, my passion, my enemy, my greatest fulfillment, my fear, my deepest peace, my power, all my love.”
As such, this album is hugely personal and is filled with cerebral messages and well thought out concepts. All this shines through and makes it an all the more engaging listen from start to finish. Kicking off with the spine tingling chords and louche beats of ‘Singularity’ cuts like ‘Lila’ then continue to confirm that Stephan Bodzin has a classical understanding of melody that is way beyond your average.
‘Blue Giant’, ‘Wir’ and ‘Ix’ all manage to be uplifting and thoughtful at the same time as driven and groovy, whilst ‘Birth’ comes on with a hymnal high note, long tailed pads and subtly shifting beats. The ghostly grooves of ‘Zulu’ mark a majestic mid point to the album, which then continues to seduce with spiritual synths and more beautiful melodies on cuts like ‘Odyssee’ as well as the album’s standout title track.
Unfolding coherently and in soothing fashion, this album once again proves that few producers in the modern world have a knack for melody and an ear for sonic ingenuity quite like Stephan Bodzin.
