Biography of Metabolism

Born in Dimbaza in the Eastern Cape in the 80's Metabolism (Lukhanyo Leon-Mark Mlandu) had a normal
township upbringing. He was always energetic from his heists of stealing spoons of sugar which he always saw it
as better than getting sweets. After a few years of living in Dimbaza, he relocated to Zwelitsha, then King
Williams Town until finally moving to Khayelitsha in Cape Town in 1994.
In that same year, he discovered Hip-Hop as well as the art of writing rhymes. This happened when he moved
from the township to study at S.A.C.S junior where a boarding scholar threw an origional tape of Snoop Doggy
Dogs Doggy style. After listening to the album he discovered that he had the talent to out write the artist he
listened to and therefore began to dive deep into his head and focused on scripting. He had come from many
names like Big Stinx, from the group Skunk Squad, Renegade, Baslik lofoflow until Metabolism.
In 1999 leading towards the year 2000 he met up wit Loxionism whom he exchanged tapes with from the popular
radio show Headwarmers and they discovered that they had similar interests. They then began to meet on a
regular basis exchanging freestyles together. He was then introduced to what was to become his first group
called Skunk Squad. They then became to undergo a cast amount of performances around the township, also
being involved in forming the dominating Park Jams in Khayelitsha called Real Hip-Hop. The Park Jam attracted
artists from not only Khayelitsha, but from around most townships including Mitchel’s Plain, Gugulethu and
Langa as well as Town. After much success of the events he seeked further challenges and went solo until 2003
when he teamed up with an old school mate and formed Nomadic Lyricists. That was then accompanied by
former member Synchronize, Synthetic, Speech, Chrysanthemum and Paradox. With industrial type of sound
and hard lyrics the group went on to record 2 singles and the name changed to Platoon Dungeon Dwellas. The
group became stagnant and he moved on to team up with Saturn and they became to work on his first solo
project called T.O.L.E in 2005. With the assistance of Big Dre, one of the founders of Headwarmers, he was
inspired to work with the DJ that introduced him to a vast amount of music and thus the ultimate journey into
music began. Later that year he was involved in a what was to be a mixtape, but lead to the formation of the
formidable group Writers Block alongside Minugs, Vernon Viscus, Konfab, Arsenic, King Coco from Germany,
Saturn and Big Dre. The group made a huge impact in Cape Town with the classic track Writers Block which
catapulted them into one of the best groups in Cape Town as well as the South Africa in the underground market.
Now as a solo artist, he has worked hard at producing his EP called 6ixpack which was released in 2010. He
has also been involved on a lot of mixtapes with his group producing Conjured Concepts, as well as the Writes
Block EP Brainstorm. He is currently working on his long awaited album Beverages which is set to be completed
in 2012.

Mit klassischer achtjähriger Musikausbildung am Violoncello, pubertären Ausflügen in die New Wave Musik folgte Ende der 90er Jahre alles einer Logik. Techno.

Felix Kerkhoff – Drummer. Creator. Performer.

Mit über 300 gespielten Shows, internationalen Tourneen und weltweitem Musikvertrieb gehört Felix Kerkhoff zu den energiegeladensten und vielseitigsten Drummern Deutschlands. Aufgewachsen in Gronau und seit 2010 in Berlin zu Hause, ging es für ihn direkt mit einer Band auf Deutschlandtour – der Startschuss für eine Karriere zwischen Studio, Bühne und Social Media.

Als „Drum-Off Global Champ 2020“ und „Best Drummer of Emergenza 2013“ stand Felix bereits auf den größten Bühnen des Landes: Fanmeile Berlin, Lanxess Arena, ZDF Fernsehgarten – und sogar bei einer Promo-Tour durch Shanghai. Er teilte die Bühne mit Acts wie Revolverheld, Udo Lindenberg und Die Ärzte.

Neben seiner Arbeit mit Rabia Sorda, Stamping Feet und aktuell Marianne Rosenberg, kombiniert Felix Beats mit Bewegung: Drumming trifft Fitness. Mit dieser einzigartigen Mischung begeistert er tausende Follower auf Instagram, TikTok & Co. – und motiviert zum Mitmachen.
