It’s been a long time since I’ve made a full length “live” mix of just my own material, mainly because I was focused on my album in recent times. But after some new studio additions and work developing new ideas and new experiments, I’ve got enough fresh material to draw on, along with some old, to put together a new live set only composed of my originals, some remixes I’ve done, and I had to include a couple from the Inhuman remix package because there’s some great work on there from Lusine and Rodriguez Jr. among others.

I’ve approached this mix a little more like my live sets of old, keeping it pretty smooth and letting the tracks do the talking, rather than going too heavy on the genre-swapping and BPM-juggling as I have been doing on other mixes recently. There’s still some (hopefully) unexpected moments though of course, a strings solo, some crunchy glitch, backwards Nyatiti, several brand new never heard before tracks, a homemade desolation bootleg of Spastik, my first ever totally analogue tracks (I’ve only recently taken the plunge into the analogue synth world), and two live Jazz improvisation sessions recorded recently in London.

The artwork embedded is made by Andre Britz, who has literally created some "fluid landscapes" works, of which he was kind enough to donate a custom piece for this mix - Thanks Andre! You can find him here: https://www.behance.net/Andre

As a whole, the mix is about being wrapped up in a warm exploration of feelings and landscapes. It will work best with a nice pair of headphones and an open mind. I hope there’s at least some parts in there you enjoy!

With over 7 million plays and counting on YouTube Compuphonic's 2011 collaboration with Marques Toliver, 'Sunset' raised the bar pretty high. With it’s distinctive Korg M1 organ and shuffling beats ‘Magical Shoes’ instantly brings to mind legendary ‘90s New York clubs like The Sound Factory but thanks to Compuphonic’s production skills it goes well beyond that of simple period pastiche and sounds utterly fresh for 2015, a bonafide club hit that is already peppering the sets of DJs such as Laurent Garnier, Tensnake and The Magician.

As the title suggests the EP’s 2nd track ‘The Sun Does Rise’ is the natural successor to the duo’s previous outing. 'Rise Of Angel' is the brand new single from Luciano, and the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album, due in 2013.  However, for the many thousands of dedicated music fans who have made the pilgrimage to Luciano's hugely successful parties this Summer in Ibiza (the weekly Ushuaia sessions and Vagabundos at Pacha), or the many Cadenza parties around Europe and North America, 'Rise Of Angel' has already become the signature tune and musical hi-light in Luciano's sets, making its release a highly anticipated moment for the Cadenza faithful.

Clocking in at over 15 minutes, 'Rise Of Angel' is an epic slice of modern electronic dance music, the simply Balearic, synth and piano driven hook gently builds and teases with cinematic intent, the light percussion and organic beats working the old Luciano magic, it's no wonder that 'Rise Of Angel' has become one of the most talked about tracks of the Ibiza season this year.

For the remixes, Luciano has kept it in the family, enlisting the duties of fellow Cadenza artists Mirko Loko, UNER and Andrea Oliva to all lend their unique production styles to a solid set of reinterpretations.  The vinyl 12" is coupled with Mirko Loko's pulsating robotic workout, adding a more beats driven take on Luciano's original, and delving into the bass for a heavyweight techno flecked remix.

And bolstering the digital package, UNER weighs in with a dubbed out, rolling drum version, using the vocal FX to support the groove whilst the pianos ride over the mix, and Andrea Oliva goes straight for the 4/4 jugular with a remix that builds solid tribal beats to a crescendo, adding a new dimension to the Original with a choice vocal section.

'Rise Of Angel' will be Luciano's first release on his own Cadenza label since 2010's Lucien-N-Luciano's 'Cuidad De Luz' EP, and marks the start of another big chapter in his career, having spent the last couple of years building a passionate audience through hundreds of DJ performances around the world, the Vagabundos events and collaborating musically with artists such as Pharrrell (Neptunes) and Lenny Kravitz.  His forthcoming album will be his second full length collection (following 2009's ‘Tribute To The Sun’), and his label, Cadenza Records, will celebrate its 10th anniversary, so the future certainly looks bright for the Chilean producer and DJ.

When creating an exclusive new track for his <i>DJ-Kicks</i> mix, Maceo Plex decided to deviate slightly from his comfort zone. “I’m kind of known for a couple of big disco records and some really deep bassline house tracks," he says. "This track is much darker, but still pretty sexy and soulful. The whole thing is dark and futuristic.” Maceo's new track "Galactic Cinema" anchors his mix, which is available April 30th on !K7.

A two track EP featuring both new Maceo Plex tracks from <i>DJ-Kicks</i> ("Galactic Cinema" and "Mind On Fire") will be available on Beatport on April 15th.
