SSP (Six Sample Project) was our first initiative after coming together as DASTA. The concept was to ‘gamefy’ music making and give ourselves restrictions in terms of time & content. 
Each of us put a sample each into a shared folder and had  1 week to finish a song using all 6 samples. We did this exercise 4 times and picked our personal favourites for this compilation. Some of the samples can be heard quite clearly but some of them have been warped, stretched and altered beyond recognition.

Debo Sanyal a young and upcoming producer from Pune's latest release 'Bob and Vegeta' is a track he first conceived in early 2017. The idea originated with him being drawn to the sound of lofi(the real low fidelity sound, not the genre), metal, 80-90s radio bollywood and the audacity of our nation's creeps on social media. The story of the song revolves around the friendship between a builder and the prince of the Saiyans.

For this week's release, we feature the latest single by Ranchi based, The Mellow Turtle aka Rishabh Lohia. The track is dedicated to the strength and beauty of the tribal women of Jharkhand, the state he hails from. An #Abstract #Downtempo track, it is a unique amalgamation of #Tribal drum elements, interlaced with sampled traditional ragas and #Electronic arpegios and synths. A musical metaphor for the flux in the lives and times of these women as they are faced with hardships and inequality, while still holding on to their traditions and values.

This song includes the vocal acapella from "My Chain" by Gucci Mane, and samples from "Radha Kaise Na Jale" from the film "Lagaan" and "Tu Tu Tu Tu Tara" from the film "Bol Radha Bol". All rights reserved by the respective creators.
