Strik&Streek - Soul Thing

FUSE London resident Rich NxT launches his new vinyl-only imprint dubbed What NxT with a four track compilation EP, which features the deep and alluring house cut ‘Frustrated’ by Josh Baker.
 
Having recently emerged out of Manchester, Josh Baker’s young career is beginning to blossom. Within the past year he’s shared the decks alongside Archie Hamilton, Burnski, Rossko and more, and has released material on Arupa and Blind Vision. Now he steps up to supply a dancefloor bomb on a fresh label that is already making waves in the underground.
 
On the vision behind the new label, Rich NxT says his focus is to showcase tracks he would play: “I was playing a lot of unreleased new music this winter in Australia, the US and Mexico and I thought, fuck, these just have to be heard! Like everyone, I have my own take on what I love to play and what better thing to do than put these sounds out.”
 
‘What NxT 001’ also features Tolga Top, Mariano Mateljan and Moonlit Vision.

Premiere: Josh Baker 'Frustrated'

Imagine a time when the DJ mix you proudly played for your friends came from the trunk of a car instead of a website and the best places to see live shows consisted of inner city warehouses and midwest farm fields.

The idea of the Legends EP series first came to our label boss Matthew Anthony on the road from Los Angeles to Yosemite National Forrest in California's Sierra Nevada mountains, one of his favorite places to explore and recharge. He’d spent the previous years working on various music projects while becoming friends and discussing song ideas with respected artists like Bad Boy Bill and DJ Godfather. On that trip it dawned on him that the various dance music scenes might benefit by pausing to reflect on some of the many we now consider to be legends.

With the end goal being two songs, each produced collaboratively by himself and an artist he regards as a pioneer, humbly, both Bad Boy Bill and DJ Godfather accepted Matthew’s invitation to the inaugural volume of The Legends EP. Turntablism.

Volume 1, Part 1 in our series pays respect to the art of Turntablism and how it played a role in Chicago and Detroit's evolution of House and Techno which in turn influenced the world. This EP travels back to the late 80's and 90's where Bad Boy Bill’s spinning on four separate decks at once and DJ Godfather's scratching over Ghetto Tech, the genre he invented, saw no equals. The songs produced for us in this series are modern interpretations of windows to the past where the artists pay homage to the DJ and that original era where sync buttons weren't invented and the only way to get an acapella was a lucky day at your favorite record store.

Biscits - On the Floor

Nic Fanciulli's first appearance on Rejected came back in 2009, when he took over "Room 3" of the labels famous Dusty House. This was followed by last years "Together", his co-production with label boss Joris Voorn and today he returns to Dutch shores again with his latest brace, "Movin' On" and "Round & Round."

With "Movin' On" featuring in his brand new and ready to roll 'Balance' compilation, our timing couldn't be better. Perfect for the summer floors, it rolls heavy with Fanciulli's trademark drive and funk. Breaking out the harmonica and letting the divas holla, he drops the bass in the synth-lead breaks before slamming it back for, dare we say it, those real hands in the air moments. The terraces eagerly await.

Pulling no punches on the flip, we have "Round & Round." In typical heads down fashion and with a dizzying display of hats and snare, Nic turns in a floor burning tool that could easily demand its very own room in Rejected's dusty abode. Two strong cuts from one of the most consistent producers of today.
