It's been 4 years since I put out new music. Over lockdown I retreated fully, burnt out in many ways. It also coincided with a studio move and overhaul of my studio process. As I started to make music again, I instead focussed on the simple joy of creating with with zero thought about sharing it publicly. I have never enjoyed making music like I do now and I think it shines through in these tracks. This EP represents a new chapter for me and I am excited to share the rest of it as well as a bunch more music over the next 12 months.

Burnski makes a return home to his own Constant Sound imprint for the first time since his ‘Changes’ EP back in September of 2015. ‘DNA’ opens out across 9 neatly reduced dance tracks that demonstrate the unremitting talents of a producer with over 11 years experience in releasing records.

The album kicks off the burning cosmic plod of ‘Like You’ before breaching more sturdy and metallic territories with tracks like ‘Green Room’ and ‘Control’. We premiere today ‘Another Source’, which carries a completely irresistible step to it before the tightly wound 808 drums of ‘Cosmic Warfare’ whip through rich, capacious pads, its a welcome addition to our Debut Transmission series.

Apollo / R&S are proud to present a compilation album of a series of classic EPs of timeless vibes and lush percussive excursions from overlooked Japanese innovator Mr YT AKA Yuji Takenouchi.

The 'Brand New Day’, ‘Southern Paradise’ and ‘Parfum’ Eps were originally released between 1997 - 1998 on Apollo Records and R&S sub-labels Generations and Global Cuts.

Over the intervening years, the EPs' heady blend of atmospheric pressure, balmy pads and deep grooves has percolated, gathering fans across the globe, to the point where original copies are in high demand on the secondhand market.

Created in the late 90s on a hardware set up of Roland Super Jupiter, Roland JV1080, Roland D550, Yamaha TX81Z and Akai S1100, Takenouchi was burning with inspiration from the sounds of Ron Trent and Chez Damier, Basic Channel, House of 909, Ian Pooley and Carl Craig.

A video game musician by profession, Takenouchi was used to producing music for specific scenes / sequences - starting from scratch had him baffled. Deciding to set a theme or concept for each EP proved to be the breakthrough he needed, a day of new environment for 'Brand New Day’, yin and yang for  'Southern Paradise’ and imaginary fragrances for ‘Parfum'. Looking at pictures related to each of these themes helped to fuel his creativity while producing.

From the sun dappled balearic haze of opener ‘Morning’ to the blissed out bump of ‘Afternoon’, the gauzy euphoria of ‘Ocean In Heaven’ to the cosmic funk pulse of ‘Regard’, the music contained in the 'Brand New Day’ compilation remains as timely and relevant as the day it was released and should see Mr. YT appreciated alongside the likes of the US and European producers who first inspired him.

The release randomly arrives in coincidence with the definitive closing of another legend, the place in berlin that has been a symbol for years of the cultural renaissance of the german capital after the wall, the Tacheles. When Gerald just moved to berlin, he got his house and his studio inside that very inspiring and artistic place, and as a tribute and homage to his legendary figure, some mysterious writer draw G's face on the right side of that building with the shamanic enigma above that giant mural "How Long Is Now", an existential sigh or question that perfectly sums up the uncertain past, present and future of one of Berlin's most important initiatives, as the Tacheles was, and as the things of our life that we love, as the music, can be, uncertain…But for sure this 3 tracker vinyl is real and it will last for long in our bags, these are 3 deadly club weapons by The Master between bass music, micro funk and soul excursions: A1 gives the title to the EP and it's subliminal dark and psychedelic after-hours dope session, while on B1 there's the shady and sexy atmosphere of "Groove of the Ghetto", a driving and funky house tune sustained by an ultra fat synth bass and enriched by soulful vocals and deep pads, while on B2 the EP ends wih the brutal Uk bass bonus beats monster entitled "202". 
Serious Stuff. In memory of Tacheles and the good old days.
