In an age where multi-million pound studios can be condensed into a few hundred pounds worth of software and a laptop the word ‘prodigy’ gets thrown around a little too often, but for Berlin based Bryan Muller better known by his moniker SCNTST, the term seems somewhat unavoidable.  Signed to Boysnoize Records, at the age of 19 is set to release his highly anticipated debut ‘Self Therapy’ on 18th November to properly announce his arrival to the world.


Born raised in Munich on a diet of rock and hip-hop, SCNTST developed a love for intricate rhythms and sequences at an early age, splitting time between playing drums in his Father’s band, experimenting with midi keyboards he built an understanding of melody and structure,  which formed the foundations of his now trademark techno sound. Inspired by  a plethora of different sources from Paul Kalkbrenner to Tiga and Boys Noize to J Dilla and Tyler the Creator he quickly got the attention of the electro scene with series of releases on a small American label before ditching trashy electro for the more refine techno sound he showcases today. With a far-reaching skill set disproportionate to his age, it was only a matter of time before he drew the attention of Boysnoize Records at the age of just 17, dropping his first EP on Alex Ridha’s electronica powerhouse in 2011. Last years ‘Premelodic Structures’ EP saw SCNTST expand his promise, pacing through the sounds of Baltimore, Detroit, London and Berlin with his own unique sound creation and dynamic arrangement.


So with such achievements already behind him whilst still in his teens and the release of his first full-length studio effort looming, it seems the boy from Munich has come of age. So with this in mind and a performance alongside Boys Noize, Audionite, Strip Steve, Daniel Avery and Jimmy Edgar for the Boysnoize Records launch party at Fabric on 15th November we thought what better time than now to invite SCNTST to deliver an exclusive mix for us here at DT and he hasn’t disappointed serving up our Mix Of The Day with his unique take on raw contemporary techno.

Step Ball Chain recruits the French maestro Batenko for a club cut EP, a kiss from the underground laden with tweaked tools exhibiting an already imitable signature sound. The inconspicuous producer based in Marseille reveals a four track feast dipping into corners of forward thinking techno, bass and unexpected dance delight, centered in flirty, freaky mastery. 
Gamma-Ray Bursts delivers delicious locked grooves for late night deviants; obscure vocal fragments fidget over driving basslines, momentary euphoria and a feverish pulsation that is core to the label.

Turbo Recordings presents the debut of Raid Over Moscow. Three instant synth-pop classics clad in modern dance armor. Featuring remixes by Jori Hulkkonen, Zyntherius, and Ewan Pearson.

Former Minus mathmaster / current Items & Things mogul Marc Houle teams
with Laure Bobin and Aymeric Mansoux to form Raid Over Moscow, leaving the line between post-nu-cold-minimal-synth-wave and vintage electroclash thoroughly straddled. Their pitch-perfect blend of computerman rhythms, hot accents and nation-shattering hooks could easily be a product of 1981, 2001, or 2021, so we'd like to think we're ahead of the curve here (yet again). Turbo is banking pretty heavily on a full-on electroclash revival, instructing our core artists to focus on songs about 1) smoking 2) how amazing / terrible fashion is and 3) sunglasses, and unusual times to wear them.
