It’s finally Friday and as we gear up for what looks set to be another momentous Bank Holiday weekend we’ve got the perfect thing to get us in the mood for the shenanigans of the next few days as we’ve hooked up Black Sun Empire’s Blackout imprint to exclusively share a fresh cut from New Zealand bass masters The Upbeats. Following on from the release of State Of Mind’s brilliantly titled ‘Eat The Rich’ LP from which we premiered album cut ‘Put It On’ we thought it was only right we hooked up with Blackout again to share a slice of their latest DnB-flavoured transmission from The Upbeats.

Entitled ‘Rituals’ we’ve been enjoying the hard-hitting new five-tracker in the office and have been using to perk up the staff whenever energy levels have begun to wane.

Having released on a number of coveted imprints since releasing their debut LP on New Zealand’s ‘Loop Recordings’ back in 2004 including Bad Taste and their brilliant ‘Primitive Technique’ album on Noisia’s Vision Recordings label , The Upbeats have carved out a glowing reputation for keeping their music strictly authentic and their latest EP perhaps serves as some of their most pertinent tracks to date.

For us the pick of the bunch is the melody-rich dubstep leaning ‘Replacement’ which we’ve secured for today’s premiere.

Big, bold and certain to rank as some of the freshest DnB currently on the market, The Upbeats ‘Rituals’ EP is the perfect follow up to State Of Mind’s ‘Eat The Rich’ and suggests that the resurgent Blackout’s current purple patch shows no sign of abating anytime soon.

As we said in few interviews in past, we were looking for a new fresh sound of Teddy Killerz. It's been quiet a long time since we entered Neurofunk scene. It was awesome three years, but we always felt that we are missing something. 
Now we feel like it's right time to to step forward & to admit to ourselves that we are tired of Drum & Bass a little. 
We want to share with you three unshown tunes we made during our journey to a new sound. There will be more later in 2015.

The warmth of Roland's analog synthesizers contrasts with the cold absurdity of modern existence — like Kafka's characters trapped in endless bureaucratic corridors, sounds get stuck between the walls of a tiny room.
The album is a diary of sleepless nights where the boundaries of reality blur, a human transforms into sound, and sound becomes a document of internal trial. Recorded on obsolete equipment in an impossible space, it becomes a testament to how creativity is born not despite limitations, but because of them.
