Bio:
Despite the many weird and wonderful submissions they get from Joe Public at Data Transmission – think everything from bottles of homemade hooch to used underwear – Data Transmission freely admit that we were most surprised to receive a cassette accompanied by a polaroid photo of alphabetti spaghetti spelling out ‘I AM RON MEXICO’ in the post at the tail end of last year. Intrigued, DT dusted off their Walkman and gave the tape a listen to find that what was on offer, was, well…surprisingly good!!! They then set about finding him online, only to find that there was not a single mention of him on the internet.

Several weeks passed and having written Ron Mexico off as an elaborate prank concocted by the over active imagination of one of their many friends with far too much time on their hands, Data Transmission didn’t expect to hear from him again. Then the postman delivered a bottle of tequila every day for twelve days. A postcard then followed, with the following message inscribed in Spanish “Now you’re suitably inebriated, perhaps we can talk on Facebook”. One brief chat later, Data Transmission had arranged for Ron to come with us to burgeoning snow festival, Rise, wherein we’d meet the mysterious selector in the flesh for the first time. His rider, predictably contained a variety of mescal, alongside “1 semi-inflated inflatable shark, a frozen banana and a copy of the Karate Kid on VHS”. The time in the French Alps with a masked Ron was fleeting and having ingested what we’d consider a potentially lethal amount of Mexican spirits, Ron Mexico left as much of an enigma as he’d arrived.

6 years on and Ron Mexico became the selector of all music for Data Transmission

After some gentle coaxing and assurances by Hobbs (UK) that he wouldn’t bring any “cameras or cops” ‘Ron’ instructed him to meet him at London’s St. Katharine’s Dock at 10.47 AM precisely with the promise he’d see him. And see him he did. Arriving by jetski, the still masked Mr. Mexico disembarked on to a pontoon wherein they set about creating 'Scolarisé à Domicile'.

Farouki is an artist from Toronto Canada, Bringing a cutting edge sound of Tech House that is quirky and fresh with no limitations in his music. His powerful grooves are made to move and built for the clubs, keeping true to the underground sound. With an upbringing in his home city Toronto he has kept his ears to the underground music scene along with travels across the world to major music capitols to find the music he loves. His wide listening variety of music from growing up in the 1990s to present day are all influences in his creations rooting from hip hop and dance music cultures. With over a decade of DJing music he has always selected the underground sound he believes in. You could find him playing sets in some Toronto venues, particularly the after hours where he show cases his works. He has started to make himself known in the tech-house scene with his music supported by top artists and labels across the world. His music is signed to top labels such as DPE, Issues, Purveyor Underground and Ole Recs and continues to release consistently. Farouki has featured a guest mix on Deeperfect Radio, and his music played on Hannah Wants Kiss Nights (KissFm), United Ants and featured on Blanc. He is also frequently Beatport charted by the worlds best artists, Stefano Noferini, Demuir , and Francisco Allendes to name a few. His sound is unique and defined, signature basslines and grooves topped with surprise elements. Expect to see more coming from Farouki as he continues to deliver us exciting sounds.
