Bio:
Despite the many weird and wonderful submissions they get from Joe Public at Data Transmission – think everything from bottles of homemade hooch to used underwear – Data Transmission freely admit that we were most surprised to receive a cassette accompanied by a polaroid photo of alphabetti spaghetti spelling out ‘I AM RON MEXICO’ in the post at the tail end of last year. Intrigued, DT dusted off their Walkman and gave the tape a listen to find that what was on offer, was, well…surprisingly good!!! They then set about finding him online, only to find that there was not a single mention of him on the internet.

Several weeks passed and having written Ron Mexico off as an elaborate prank concocted by the over active imagination of one of their many friends with far too much time on their hands, Data Transmission didn’t expect to hear from him again. Then the postman delivered a bottle of tequila every day for twelve days. A postcard then followed, with the following message inscribed in Spanish “Now you’re suitably inebriated, perhaps we can talk on Facebook”. One brief chat later, Data Transmission had arranged for Ron to come with us to burgeoning snow festival, Rise, wherein we’d meet the mysterious selector in the flesh for the first time. His rider, predictably contained a variety of mescal, alongside “1 semi-inflated inflatable shark, a frozen banana and a copy of the Karate Kid on VHS”. The time in the French Alps with a masked Ron was fleeting and having ingested what we’d consider a potentially lethal amount of Mexican spirits, Ron Mexico left as much of an enigma as he’d arrived.

6 years on and Ron Mexico became the selector of all music for Data Transmission

After some gentle coaxing and assurances by Hobbs (UK) that he wouldn’t bring any “cameras or cops” ‘Ron’ instructed him to meet him at London’s St. Katharine’s Dock at 10.47 AM precisely with the promise he’d see him. And see him he did. Arriving by jetski, the still masked Mr. Mexico disembarked on to a pontoon wherein they set about creating 'Scolarisé à Domicile'.

Magdi is an accomplished house DJ, making waves in the scene in the UK & overseas

A true 90s baby - born in -1990 and growing up in Suffolk, it wasn’t until his first trip to Ibiza aged 18 that house music became a way of life. It was lockdown that inspired him to master the art of mixing and as soon as lockdown lifted, he’s smashed his debut year in 2022 out of the park. 

Founding an events brand under the name of Grounded Sounds, in his first year Magdi has a host of high profile events and bookings under his belt. Appearing at multiple UK festivals, headline slots at Egg LDN, Club Q Shoreditch plus beach club parties and clubs across south east Asia, as well as multiple club appearances and a regular residency in his hometown. 

Magdi has supported some incredible artists, including Ilyius and Barrientos, Florentia, Ellie Cocks, Charlotte Van De Peer, Sandor, Seb Fontaine and many more.  

His sound focuses on a mixture of feel good tech house and heavy hitters, which keep the crowd guessing and engaged throughout his sets as he works his way through edits, huge build ups and new music from hours of crate digging to build the perfect playlist for every event.
