Mat Playford continues his run of form with ace new track ‘ISON’. Beginning with a gurgling, snaking 303 and slamming beats, ‘ISON’ soon develops into piano house euphoria — but not
in a cheesy way. A looped old skool piano refrain mesmerisingly carries the track for a minute or two before some amazing, mazy jazz piano tickles the sensibilities. Boogie-woogie scale-traversing freestyling, some dynamite ivory-tinkling not seen on a dance track since ‘Uncertain Smile’ by The The, it totally makes ‘ISON’. Awesome.

When Tough Luck Records started the core was around a group of like minded people making music and sharing a love of techno. It’s been nearly 3 years slowly building the label and we now come to our 6th release, which is sure to spark intrigue.

It remains a passion project put together by a group of mates from London and Newcastle and this EP mysteriously showcases the talents of a group of artists currently exciting the underground.

Jonatön is a new name to the fold but not a new comer to the scene. He puts forward a confident debut EP for the label, showcasing a brand of grooving techno that we are sure to see more of. Vier uses power funk and broken, warped chords that sweep across the tracks soulful vocal sample. Our Debut Transmission today is Zerroah, it carries a straight forward techno hook with clinical production designed for dark dance floor moments.

Lewis Boardman's remix increases the sub pressure with a hypnotic bass pattern before ONNO returns with the mechanical percussion of 'Satoshi L'. 

'Final D' rounds off the release, highlighting that Underground Audio is a fitting home for the talented Dutch producer.

Lyon based producer Ortella debuts on Kerri Chandler's Madhouse Records with the aptly titled four track ‘RebeLyon EP’. Here he showcases the raw and bumping house sound that helped him garner the reputation as "The King of Clubbing in Lyon". Rounding out the release is the jacking house cut 'What?', featuring chopped vocals, warm classic chords and a bouncing rhythm, making it primed for a excursions on dancefloor.

The ‘RebeLyon EP’ is set for release June 14.

Ape-X Records is the new label created by the people behind the Newcastle party of the same name. It debuts with a fantastic EP from mysterious spoken word musician Marske with production duties taken care of by esteemed North East artist and Ape-X label manager Man Power, plus remixes from Spencer Parker and Boxia. Ape-X has long been setting the benchmark for underground parties in Newcastle with intense atmospheres soundtracked by everyone from Amelie Lens to Andres, Robert Hood to Shanti Celeste.

Boss and cult Berlin favourite Spencer Parker reworks the track into six minutes of hard hitting and raw techno that will blow up the club. This is a powerful debut from the Ape-X label and a superb offering from Marske.
