The opening track “Take The Fall” indicates nicely which direction the journey with Paskal & Urban Absolutes will take: The sugar sweet, soothing voice of Pete Josef from Bristol (one half of The White Lamp) bids you welcome in a very charming way and the production implies lasciviously that we're standing on the stairway to clubland. Already with the next track “Here Again” we are in the middle of the eye of the storm. Paul Randolph (the official singer of the Jazzanova live band) purifies a true dancefloor banger, that – and this is the big stunt – also works just as well at home.
For “White Walls” and “Flieg Los” Alexa Voss of Neve Naive wrote some super catchy lyrics and lends her vocals to the two poppiest songs of the whole album. An album which is rich in pop appeal but never concealing its strong affinity for dance music – as in house, techno and even boogie.
Take for instance “Hold Your Head Up” (featuring Kasar), a mysterious hybrid best described imagining the Pet Shop Boys doing deep house together with Hot Chip.  Or “The Way”, where we are delighted by the tonsils of Desney Bailey and an arrangement so eager for the bassline that it evokes nothing but smiling faces and the urge to shake your body. Catchiness, positivism and euphoria (the name of one track by the way) – these are the catchphrases that come to mind when listening to this truly mesmerizing debut by one of the most promising new acts in a scene not to be defined by any genre.
When second-last track, “Melancholia”, kicks in it's like the end of the best holidays of your life. A perfect Balearic bliss with memories of sitting at the sea, listening to a distant guitar and waving goodbye to a setting golden sun. So long, my friends.
This album will impress you and your future guests with awe for months to come. Rest assured.

On Silk Sofa we are proud to present the brand new artist album from Deepshader & Nazca (Moldova / USA). "Ashes From The Sky" consists of over a dozen outstanding chillout and downtempo pieces.

The album intro starts off with lush bell melodies, which are later accompanied by a tranquil breakbeat. Just released as a single with an accompanying remix by Gorm Sorensen, "Covered By The Blue Fog" includes mesmerizing guitar riffs and sidechained pad lines. "My Rainy Day" quickly introduces a hypnotizing soundscape, featuring captivating arpeggio lines and a soft breakbeat. A memorable guitar riff is showcased in the 4th track, "From Now You Are Home", which also includes myriad underlying atmospheric elements. "If You're A Bird" consists of an almost haunting piano line, as well as floating pad layers in the background and a calm guitar riff. The next song, "I'm A Bird Too", perfectly follows in the footsteps of the previous one, using subtle piano lines and gentle guitar strokes. "Forever In The Night" contains a blissful atmosphere, including tranquil guitar riffs and lush percussion elements. A slow 4/4 beat is introduced in "The Soulflayer", which also showcases subtle choir elements and airy pad lines underneath. A delightful soundscape is quickly established in "Tripping On My Nightly Dreams", in which we witness mesmerizing pad layers and subtle guitar riffs in the foreground. "Living With The Ghosts" starts out with lush guitar riffs that gently guide the listener throughout this breath-taking piece. Featuring Rob Phipps (USA), "Antikythera" consists of haunting male vocal stems, as well as mood-setting guitar melodies in the background. "The Timewriter", a collaboration with S.Bluyer (Moldova), features an intriguing breakbeat and intricate sound effects, as well as an interesting spoken word sample. A stunning atmosphere is quickly established in "Lucy", a collaboration with Max Farewell (Moldova). Piano strokes, guitar melodies and subtle choir elements unite beautifully. The album outro features excellent textures and enjoyable, subtle guitar melodies, as well as blissful pad layers in the background.

Sometimes, there is a certain attention for a new artist and you can actually feel that this one is about to go through the roof.This is exactly the feeling we have with Few Nolder right now. With releases and tracks on Boso, Suol, Cloud Vision and not to forget his little summer hit „IF“ on Connaisseur in late August, the Vilnius resident has caught quite some attention over the last months. Now, he completes this successful and busy year with his frst full EP on Connaisseur called „Moli“, featuring three new lovely tracks.

One of Few Nolder’s talents is to compose state-of-the-art music which also has a timeless approach. The a-side „Twin“ is one of those tracks. Sounds and melodies which stick in your mind straight away and an on point build-up make „Twin“ one of those universal tunes which can be played in every moment.

„Sonar“ on b1 is a bit more reduced and raw. Played at the right moment it is a heavy hitter, with its memorable break and the big synth theme.

On b2 you will fnd the title track and maybe also the hidden hit of the release. The bitter- sweet „Moli" is a delicate extravaganza with big melodies and emotions.

Eli & Fur, aka Eli Noble and Jennifer Skillman, have been making a name for themselves on the London DJ circuit of late, and putting out a string of fresh and exciting singles, including “Seeing Is Believing”, their excellent collaboration with Shadow Child. “Feel The Fire” is a tougher, harder-edged take on their typically melodic sound, and works wonders with their ethereal vocals. 

A memorable moment from Anjunadeep 06, the energetic original mix has been a mainstay in James Grant and Jody Wisternoff’s DJ sets this year. Fellow rising stars Journeyman take on remix duties, stripping down the peak-time power of the original for a more mellow rolling style, with a buoyant groove carrying the track through flowing chord stabs and the distinctive vocal hook.

He won't be sitting back and thinking that's enough for the year though, as third album 'Simpler Times' is due to arrive in September, adding to a decade-long list of releases on Metalheadz, Ram, Dispatch and Critical Recordings.

After opening up the account on their new label earlier this year, Krankbrother return to the imprint with two new tracks, which show off the differing shades of their musical dexterity.

Up on our Debut Transmission is A-side ‘When You’re Watching Me’, a fully formed Summer belter, which ticks all the boxes required for a modern day, sunrise dance classic. A thunderous sub-bass line booms over delicate drums, the percussion lightly soaked in reverb as the filters open and close on the soft & melodic arpeggiated riffs.

All the hallmarks of a classic piece of euphoric electronica are here, best exemplified by the syrupy female vox and Balearic tones, and a hefty breakdown that really ramps up the drama. Shades of the 90’s big guns like Underworld and Fluke are here, but perhaps more in the grandiose style in which ‘When You’re Watching Me’ has been delivered, either way, it’s most certainly one of Krankbrother’s best to date.

‘When You’re Watching Me’ is released for digital download on 3rd August 2015 via Krankbrother Records.

Krankbrother’s productions just keep getting better. Now up to their eighth release on their self-titled label, the London-based siblings’ latest EP is their best yet. ‘Paradigm Shift’ kicks off with swinging drums, glossy vox and, dare we say it, a slightly trance-y feel — we can imagine this one soothing dancefloors in Ibiza as the sun comes up. B-side ‘Right There With You’ boasts a stretchy 303 loop and booming house b-line better aligned with Berlin than Van Buuren, signing off another superb release from the duo.

Right There With You

Krankbrother serve up two tasty new tracks for the tenth release on their own label.  The London DJs/producers/promoters have been flexing their musical muscle since the labels inception last year, providing a platform for new artists like Joe Munday, The Organ Grinder and Jody Barr, serving up remixes from Prins Thomas, Mark E and A Sagittariun, and of course dropping some heavy weight productions of their own.

The crackles and dusty ambience that opens ‘Outré’ pave way to a deliciously deep and driving track; ethereal stabs and grandiose strings provide the sonic landscape for the melodious synth motifs and choppy vocal refrains, thick with emotive sound and Detroit techno sensibilities.  

‘Zauna’, with its tribal rhythm and domineering bassline, provides a heady concoction of gritty drums, frenetic percussion, wandering synth riffs and hypnotizing vocal chants, cleverly sampled and arranged from he afrobeat sounds from Nigeria.  Another charging and powerful club cut to add to the Krankbrother arsenal….
