The 4th edition in the acclaimed Sterns Edits series sees curator Ben Gomori open up the Sterns Music catalogue to other keen re-editors — with Brownswood / Worldwide genius SMBD (aka Simbad) the first to step up to the plate.

Nigeria's Segun Adewale is sometimes referred to as the 'crown prince' of Jùjú music, but in the 1980s he developed a sound all of his own, which we called Yo-Pop. A mixture of Jùjú, Funk, Reggae, Afrobeat and Jazz, its vibrant melange can be heard on his 1986 record 'Ojo Je', where both these originals are taken from. Here, Gomori takes the uplifting 'Atewo-Lara Ka Tepa Mo'se' for an extended hypnotic, tribal trip ready for the blend. On the flip, SMBD delivers two superb chops of the title track — a gritty Funk-fuelled 'Disco' version with live bass, and a deliciously deep dub-house version. 

The stunning artwork was penned by Kofi Ankobra, who grew up in Ghana and studied art at Oshogbo, Nigeria — the place Adewale himself was born.

A fixture on the San Francisco dance music scene for the past decade, Jackie House, is the alter-ego of Jacob Sperber, one of the founding members of Honey Soundsystem. Jackie House  contributed to LAGASTA’s compilation Vol. 8 his killer epic edit of Don Ray’s 1978 classic track “Got To Have Loving” that clocks in at 10-minutes. (He started working on this, right after he heard Horse Meat Disco's Luke Howard play it in Croatia last summer). It’s great disco ride from start to finish! Absolute fire.
LAGASTA’s annual “Late Summer” compilation series turns 8 this year! Features lots of exclusive tracks, including Cooper Saver’s brand-new remix for Perel, previously unreleased edits from Balako, Joutro Mundo and Jackie House, Harrison BDP’s sublime new track “Standing In The Rain” and Earth Boys’ remix for their own tune “Put Me On”. It also includes much-loved gems available as a free download for the first time, featuring Man Power, Palmbomen II, Seb Wildblood, Keita Sano, Antenna, Carrot Green & Selvagem, and E Ruscha V.

We've been long term fans of Session Victim now, so we're excited to host this blunted, jazzy excursion where their beloved Juno 106 takes centre stage alongside beautifully warm live drums. Throw in some vocoder and you've got one hell of a jam here. Their productions are always without fail, recorded and mixed to perfection. The warmth of it all just wraps you up in a big fat duvet.
