We love a genuine bit of eccentricity here at DT. From Jeff Mills obsession with space to well, just Seth Troxler in general; we appreciate that it takes all sorts to make the world go round and in the crazy world of electronic music even more so thus we’re big fans of Dutch duo Mason. As zany as they are talented the Amsterdam natives often make us laugh in a way that many comedian don’t from the biography being written in the form of a Willy Wonka-esque rhyming ditty to their playful interviews. A mixture of classically trained violin and antiquitated synths in a live show christened the ‘Baboon Booth’ can only be a winner in our eyes and puts them in the same catergory as live must see as fellow countrymen and funsters Smaak and Kraak.

Now to brighten up our Wednesday and celebrate their return to Animal Language for their new EP ‘Wombat / Maybe’ the pairing have delivered a fresh and exclusive mix for our Mix Of The Day. As they say themselves: “ With predictable unpredictability Wombat and Maybe blend house grooves with elasticated bass lines M1 pianos, breakbeats, bleeps, squeeks and assorted implements from under the kitchen sink” and that’s no word of a lie as is this: their mix has been on repeat in the office as essential listening.
