Venezuelan wonder producers Fur Coat step up for a triumphant return to their spiritual home of Crosstown Rebels armed with a solid stack of weapons to vamp up the dancefloor. Showcasing the duo’s most thoughtful and restrained material to date, the ‘U Turn EP’ is a deep and moody tour de force, technically on point and awash with hypnotic bleeps, dramatic tension and shards of vintage techno. Damian Lazarus has consistently hammered all 4 cuts of late and ‘U Turn’ has been a staple in the sets of the mighty Tale Of us for 4 months, debuting at Time Warp in Mannheim to heated speculation. Fur Coat is one of the most hard-working and passionate duos in the business. On an endless quest for an original groove, irresistible hook and utmost production quality, their wildly successful releases for the likes of Hot Creations, Bpitch Control and of course Crosstown Rebels has ensured that the duo a weighty touring schedule and loyal following. Unearthed and championed by original Rebel Damian Lazarus, the duo released their impressive debut album ‘Mind Over Matter’ in 2012 on Crosstown Rebels

Since the album dropped, the pair have been called upon to sprinkle the unmistakable Fur Coat magic to reworks of legends such as Timo Maas & Robert Owens as well as hot newcomers Kidnap Kid & Joy Wellboy. April 2014 saw another landmark as the guys released their first original material since Mind Over Matter. 'Theres No Time EP' came out on the much hyped Hot Creations imprint from Jamie Jones & Lee Foss and is still getting hammered by some of the biggest players in the game today. Hot on its heels came 'The Right Move EP' for Ellen Allien's legendary Berlin imprint Bpitch Control, and featured the vocal talents of Jaw from DOP, again cementing Fur Coat’s name at the top of the industry.

Continuum Gate is a huge, super-effective DJ tool. A wonky acid top-line hovers over rolling, Spastik-style percussion (which everyone loves)... add in massive kicks and a gritty ride and BOOM, the party gets pazzo. 'Children of the Heart' tweaks the reverb and flecks the resonant acid all over your mind... it sounds like Daniel Avery, dipped in tiramisu. Finally, 'Turbo Rolling Ride' ups the jack quotient, with pumping snares punctuating an infinitely grooving bassline.

Solid, playable bombs.

The latest offering from Belfast-raised London based boys Bicep comes in the form of the Dahlia EP. Returning home to their Feel My Bicep imprint, the Dahlia EP is a masterful follow on from their anthem on AUS Music, Just. i-D exclusively bring you the second track off the EP with Rays. Being inspired by some of the lads early morning sets at Panorama Bar, the track is another punchy number with the tumbling bass line building through vocal chops into a deep minor-key 2nd drop. Another Bicep delight set to do definite damage to dance floors both day and night.

Hands up, who knows what 'Ubuntu' means? Oh and quieten down you computer nerds, we're not talking about the Linux based operating system as that'd be, well, beyond boring. Anyone? No? We'll tell you then. It means "I am because we are" and serves as the inspiration behind Italian DJ and producer Federico Grazzini's new record label of the same name. 

Starting life with a four track various artist EP, the outlet aims to serve as an "interactive open space" where music and other art forms can be shared by like-minded individuals.

 Featuring cuts from from E-Dward!, Double Dash and Grazzini himself, Ubuntu 001 has a Futurama theme running through the record, with several of the track titles paying homage to Matt Groening's popular animated science fiction series.

Out now on wax, it's the label founder's effort, 'Bender' that most impressed us here at Data Transmission HQ and thus is the number we knew we just had to nab for premiere. A retrofitted glimpse of the future, you can check out 'Bender' in all all its techno fuelled glory now.  Go on, you won't regret it.

The glitzy synths and lavish drops of the original have been swapped out in favour of something decidedly darker. Rumbling basslines and meandering riffs are layered on top of rumbling low-ends and minimal yet focused percussion. 

It's aimed at the warehouses rather than the main stages but we have no doubt that you'll be hearing this one crashing through a sound-system very soon.

The return of Michael Klein was imminent. Considering the magnitude of his last offering, the „Drawing EP“, it was only a matter of time before he returned with another stellar parcel of forward thinking dance floor bombshells. With his latest contribution ‚Metals EP’, Michael presents four stunning numbers displaying not only his trademark sound, but his evolution and range as a highly promising new artist.
The expedition kicks off with „Silver“ and with it a lush presentation of the perfect balance between thrust and elation. While a persistent rush of momentum keeps the pace, slow yet infectious rises and vast ethereal cries of spacious flickers set the stage for a cosmic ride reminiscent of indigenous settings with boundless, star lit skies.
Following suit on the A side sees Michael return to his approach heard on his last EP. Somewhere between the traditional fundamentals and the future stylings of the most distinguished techno lies „Opaque“. With incredible force and exuberance, Klein delivers off kilter grooves that create a contagious, sweat laden exhilaration, nothing short of pure warehouse bliss.
Kicking off the B side is „Outer Shell“ and it is by far the most emotional and cosmic of all the tunes. Opulent melodics construct beams of radiant light found only in the outer reaches of deep space as flashes of meteoric rises and low bursts of impetus propel the auditor into a never-ending journey into a place where time and space cease to exist.
Wrapping things up is a slow burner entitled „Dura 2 feat. aGhost“. A tune that can be played fast or at the slower original speed, it's a beautiful demonstration of resistance and inflection. As chants of a mysterious female fill the room, shimmers of lavish chimes circle slowly to secure an impassioned sentiment of sorrow, excitement and desire.
To compliment the beauty of 'Dura 2' we've enrolled the services of Roman Lindau to put his spin on the original. With just a few elements Lindau expertly creates a monster of a dance floor stormer. As the bassline continually grows and shrinks with a simple but highly effective four to the floor groove, the excitement swells as short stabs of vocals entice the crowd to peaking trepidation.

Jamie Jones has always had the golden touch when it comes to remixes and his sumptuous edit takes no prisoners. 

There's a seriously heavy bassline running throughout and the serene vocals of Eglė Sirvydytė​ are kept intact. It's a bit of a monster and some warped gurgles and rumbles give it a darkened edge. Check it.

Montel is relatively new to the world of electronic music but in a short amount of time he has quickly risen to the top of the game. Starting out by laying a strong foundation he released a series of vinyl only releases that caught the eye of many of the biggest names in the industry. Since getting his start in 2012 he has released records on renowned labels such as Bedrock, Leftroom, Knee Deep In Sound, and Material just to name a few. 

Now making his Mobilee debut on Leena Music with his “Within” EP he presents two solid tracks that showcase his signature sound of pure unadulterated house music. Focusing on heavy grooves and classic rhythmic soundscapes these tracks have one goal in mind to send the listener straight to the dance floor with a sense of raw energy and intoxicating motivation. Having already built a strong representation of music in just a few short years we’re sure to hear more from this natural talent in the sets and clubs of the future.

After the bold statement of the triple-vinyl Studio r° 003 release that saw Fred P, Mike Parker, DJ Spider and more alongside newer artists, the label returns with a single that continues the mission of the Berlin-based broadcast and record label project. Dealing in the most adventurous and heartfelt corners of contemporary house and techno, Studio r° 004 once again pairs established artists with unsung talent.
XDB has built a thoroughly respected reputation over the past ten years without resorting to releasing excessive amounts of music. That he has been signed to labels as respected as Echocord, Dolly, Sistrum and Story says it all, and so he contributes the slow-simmering acid cut “Basscored” to this compilation with its sharp drum jack and subtly rising intensity.
youANDme is a collaboration between Daniel Ströter and Martin Müller, having previously appeared on Snork Enterprises, Cocoon and collaborated with the likes of Mark Broom. On “Daemon” the pair bring the drums in heavy for a heads down, immersive house cut that matches club-ready functionality with swooping textures that pulse with a metallic energy.
Qindek has been rising to prominence through releases on Wavereform and Wolfskuil. The Dutch artist equally has past form on labels such as Savoir and Manual Music under his Thomas Laurén alias, but in this current guise he immerses himself in the warm chords of dub techno. “Like A Groove With A Bang” keeps the energy levels up with a forthright tempo and undulating dynamics that make for a track that thrills as much as it satisfies.
From his roots on Pastamusik through to breakthrough releases on Ornaments, two albums and more recent outings on Rotary Cocktails, The Analog Roland Orchestra has gone from strength to strength with his one man band of drum machines and synths. Bringing an especially aquatic mood to this record, he closes out the B-side with the hypnotic throb of “VX600”, channeling the spirit of classic dubwise electronic music in a manner that anything but basic.
Across the four tracks the Studio r° approach is further refined, balancing the desire for solid rhythmic constructions with a more introspective, soul-stirring musical message that makes for the most timeless, meaningful electronic music.
