Manchester duo MINDLESS. are wasting no time. Just months after launching the project, they’ve landed on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax with their second release, the ‘Turn It Up’ EP. That’s right, the pair are levelling up fast, and we’ve got the premiere of MINDLESS.’s ‘Taste It’ right here.

Formed by Harry Carvell and Kieran Dearden, the UK duo have gone from after-work jam sessions to catching the ear of one of the most influential names in house. Now they’re stepping into the Hottrax catalogue, a space reserved for records that push the floor into overdrive.

The title track ‘Turn It Up’ is all about crisp drums, a snaking bassline, and a hypnotic groove that just keeps rolling. But it’s MINDLESS.’s ‘Taste It’ that flips the switch, locking you into darker textures and low-end pressure built for sweaty basement moments and 4am rooftops. This is house music with no let-up, no compromise, and plenty of bite.

We’re hyped to premiere MINDLESS.’s ‘Taste It’ on Data Transmission. This is a label debut that signals big things ahead, and you can already hear why tastemakers are jumping on board.

MINDLESS. is a DJ and producer duo formed in Manchester by Kieran Dearden and Harry Carvell.

Launching the project in early 2025, their debut EP “Getting Started” reached #3 on the Minimal/Deep Tech Beatport charts, which they followed up with their 'Turn It Up' EP on Jamie Jones' Hottrax which signalled a huge step in their career.

MINDLESS. has received support from heavyweights such as FISHER, East End Dubs, Josh Baker, ALISHA, Gaskin, Di Chiara Brothers and Wheats just to name a few.

Ron Mexico is the selector of the @data-transmission premiere & Podcast/Spotlgiht Mix series and also runs @dtweapons, @63brecords.  Also the selector for @nudetechno premieres/mixes and @discoinfiltrators

Bio:
Despite the many weird and wonderful submissions they get from Joe Public at Data Transmission – think everything from bottles of homemade hooch to used underwear – Data Transmission freely admit that we were most surprised to receive a cassette accompanied by a polaroid photo of alphabetti spaghetti spelling out ‘I AM RON MEXICO’ in the post at the tail end of last year. Intrigued, DT dusted off their Walkman and gave the tape a listen to find that what was on offer, was, well…surprisingly good!!! They then set about finding him online, only to find that there was not a single mention of him on the internet.

Several weeks passed and having written Ron Mexico off as an elaborate prank concocted by the over active imagination of one of their many friends with far too much time on their hands, Data Transmission didn’t expect to hear from him again. Then the postman delivered a bottle of tequila every day for twelve days. A postcard then followed, with the following message inscribed in Spanish “Now you’re suitably inebriated, perhaps we can talk on Facebook”. One brief chat later, Data Transmission had arranged for Ron to come with us to burgeoning snow festival, Rise, wherein we’d meet the mysterious selector in the flesh for the first time. His rider, predictably contained a variety of mescal, alongside “1 semi-inflated inflatable shark, a frozen banana and a copy of the Karate Kid on VHS”. The time in the French Alps with a masked Ron was fleeting and having ingested what we’d consider a potentially lethal amount of Mexican spirits, Ron Mexico left as much of an enigma as he’d arrived.

6 years on and Ron Mexico became the selector of all music for Data Transmission

After some gentle coaxing and assurances by Hobbs (UK) that he wouldn’t bring any “cameras or cops” ‘Ron’ instructed him to meet him at London’s St. Katharine’s Dock at 10.47 AM precisely with the promise he’d see him. And see him he did. Arriving by jetski, the still masked Mr. Mexico disembarked on to a pontoon wherein they set about creating 'Scolarisé à Domicile'.

The term “hugr,” from ancient Nordic belief, describes the mind as a traveling force. “Hugr” is considered the part of our souls which can move outside the body during states of trance or ecstasy. Nordic shamans use this to visit other worlds or dimensions for the purpose of obtaining insights, healing, guidance, and to communicate with the spirit world. These spiritual journeys begin through rituals of drumming, dance, and singing that induce a trance-like state where “hugr” can be released from the physical body.
