This week's excellent mixtape comes from Frenchman Okain, a man we've admired for quite some time now. The mix has plenty of flavour, so make sure you download it straight away and get your morning, afternoon or evening bouncing!

Okain grew up in Paris, France and has been immersed in house and techno music since he was a teenager. After spending countless hours listening to DJs like the legendary Laurent Garnier he decided to give it a go himself and bought his first DJing equipment after spending a whole summer making orange juice at a local store (yes, really!).

He's a enjoyed a whirlwind of success over the last few years with strong singles, EPs and remixes under his artist name and also under various aliases such as Samuel Thalmann, Lezar and Handycraft the collaboration with his childhood mate Paul Ritch.  Okain has been a consistent contributor to labels such as Tsuba, BPitch Control, Quartz Rec, vIVA and Upon.You, all of which have helped him become one of the most charted artist on Resident Advisor.

On the touring side of things, Okain's career is also continuously growing with gigs in Europe, China, Japan, North & South America, Canada and Russia. He played at some of the most respected spots such as fabric (London), Rex Club (Paris), Electric Pickle (Miami), Row14 (Barcelona), Ushuaia Ibiza, Space Ibiza, Sankeys (Ibiza & Manchester) and Watergate (Berlin) to name a few.

He's not doing too badly then really is he?! This mix is a great one, we wouldn't have expected anything less.

Lane 8 Fall 2014 Mixtape

For Getting Deeper's 71st podcast, Mark Tarmonea has taken us back to our soulful roots. It's really refreshing to go back to something more melodic and warm after a long stretch of deep, spacey sounds. What I particularly love about Mark's set is his choice of tracks and how he has strung them together to create a wonderful progression. 

The set begins with lush, rooftop tracks. The vibe is of open air, sunny rooftop sessions with a cozy and comforting functionality. What happens next is a gradual blooming of grandiose stretches and soaring melodies... and boom, that's when the set opens up into hypnotic beats and intoxicating... almost enchanting synths. 

This is one of the few sets on Getting Deeper that are absolutely banging for most kinds of dancefloors. Moving to the set is a direct result of beautiful and heady trips that are so easy to get lost into. I love it. I love how easy it is to lose yourself to this set. 

We hope that the set does the same to you as it does to us. 

Thank you Mark for such a heartwarming set. It's absolutely lovely.

Now we’ve got all that bragging out of the way let us accompany our unveiling of an fresh cut from Sean McCabe by presenting you the world premiere of the Ganzfeld Effect remix of Sugar Hill & Wasabi’s ‘It’s On You’. One half their new 2 cut remix package - the other being a rework from Purple Disco Machine – Manchester producer Ganzfeld Effect’s reimagining sees the classic M1 organ be placed centre stagew for a remix as happy moving a dancefloor as destroying the airwaves. Slated to arrive November 24 via Mark Knight’s esteemed Toolroom Records you can check out Ganfeld’s synth-driven remix of ‘It’s On You’ in it’s its foot stomping splendour now.

2015 is underway and with our new years eve hangover finally behind us we’re in the mood for something fresh for this weeks exclusive podcast. Step forward Luke Miskelly who as a an artist that that has always had a deep passion for electronic music was just the man we needed to get the year underway in style.

With influences of house, garage, drum and bass and jungle, Luke has developed an individual style that compliments the elements of these genres and blends them into house and techno. Since meeting FUSE label chief Enzo Siragusa in 2008, who instantly picked up on his unique style and energy for music, he has gone from strength to strength and is now a firm fixture in the London based labels close-knit roster of residents. Fitting in perfectly alongside the passionate and distinctive FUSE ethos we thought it was about time Mr. Miskelly showcased his skills for us at Data Transmission. Enjoy.

Mineo continues his underground coup this month with a brand new EP for Matt Tolfrey's Leftroom Limited imprint.

The 3-track Disappear EP sees Mineo exploring multiple aspects of the diverse beast that is tech house. WIth a penchant for gritty subs and vocal slices, the producer drops deep warbles on the title track, before visiting a more obscure, organic realm in 'Starts With A Kick'. Our premiere today, 'Starts With A Beat', takes the Bhutanese voices of the previous track down a more dancefloor-friendly route through driving bass and popping synths.

Disappear adds yet another top quality release to Mineo's catalogue, which already includes work for Crosstown Rebels, Hypercolour and Hot Creations. The EP is set to drop January 19th.

We’re not sure what it is about the new year that puts us in such an introspective mood but with previous spotlight mixes seeing us travel as far afield as Australia, Berlin via San Francisco and Stockholm we thought we should return to home turf for our opening mix of the series for 2015 with an effort from fast rising Londoner James Sison.

Co-owner and founder of Bade Records we’ve had an eye on James for a while now and thought it was about time you got to know him too. A regular fixture at the events of the similarly criminally underrated Tessellate, James has cultivated a deep, melodic style both in his DJ sets and work in the studio with his inbound ‘Napier Lake’ EP serving as a shining example of why we think he’s destined for big things. It's Wednesday so here at Data Transmission, we thought you lovely readers deserved an exclusive premiere to see you through to the weekend. Thankfully, our friends over at Milk & Sugar Recordings were on hand with the perfect track to pick us all up from the mid-week slump!

For the label's next release, up-and-coming Londoner Jackson has teamed up with electo-folk hero James Yuill to create 'Love Love Love', which the press release promises is "an addictive dance/folk fusion full of good vibes". Our premiere today however, sees deep house's latest star, Vanilla Ace, on a garage tip with Dharkfunkh, splicing 'Love Love Love' with a punchy beat and a bass line built purely for the dance floor.

Within the last three years, the once obscure talent from Haarlem has gathered a strong following in Amsterdam and beyond. And well-deserved we might add as the lady with the long locks has been perfecting her art, predominantly behind the decks. In the studio her craft is taking shape as well now, as her releases on Parquet and Einmusika have shown.

I fucking love Tuesdays. Said nobody ever. So to brighten up your Tuesday afternoon we have a nice little treat for you in the form of an exclusive mix from the mystery wrapped in an enigma himself: Claptone.

Little is known about the DJ/Producer with his biography describing him thus: "In a now long forgotten world, many generations ago, a bird like shape emerged from wooded dark- ness, floating and fluttering, drifting and dreaming. Backlit by a bright glow of iridescent light, the undecipherable form wore a dazzling golden mask. Its long beak swooped down like an inverted horn and since then, people have referred to the mythical being simply as Claptone."

Whether or not that is a true account remains open to debate (although we'd put nothing past the avian-mask wearing maestro) but what we can confirm is that he has delivered yet another storming mix for us at Data Transmission ahead of touching down in London at Electric Brixton for Tube & Berger’s much anticipated Deeper Sessions on February 21.
