We’re big fans of Cottam here at Data Transmission so when the inimitable UK producer agreed to helm the latest edition of our mix of the day it’s fair to say we were more than a little excited. What would he play? Whilst probably best known for his deep house and Nu Disco output Cottam is just at home playing soul, hip hop, afrobeat, disco, dub and techno so just what avenue he’d lead us down was anybody’s guess.

Whilst we won’t spoil the surprise (it’s up to you whether or not you want to have a gander at the tracklist) we will tell you it has certainly lived up to our lofty expectations. The end product of his first proper session on the decks for over 2 months due to ill health, this mix marks the start of a bright new year for Cottam that sees him make his triumphant return to DJing as he touches down at the likes of this years much anticipated Gottwood Festival for a summer to remember. Offering up just under 2 hours of choice cuts for you to wrap your ears around, this was just the tonic we needed to kickstart our week. Check it out.

Mix of the Day: Cottam

Some guy who likes music. All types but especially electronic music. My likes include vintage audio programs and software, the songs of the many guises of Tom Middleton,  l.a. tech house and gin. My turn offs are lockout laws, spending too much time on mastering and working for the man. The first edit I ever attempted was a remix of sash!'s, encore en fois, its hard to make 90s euro dance sound worst, but i did, and Ive been making tracks worst ever since! Dj'd and partied since my teens, now Im wondering what happened to all that time. I've collected over 26k tracks in 20yrs, 4k onlines mixes and podcasts and created about 14k samples. That explains it.
