The concept behind this mix was, for lack of a better phrase, ‘to be a bit Kompakt-y’. Having grown up on the mix CD format, it’s obvious that there can be a delicate artistry beyond sequencing 80 minutes of the latest thump. With the likes of Ewan Pearson’s We Are Proud Of Choices, Robag Wruhme’s Wuppdeckmischmampflow and Michael Mayer’s Immer series in mind, this mix was designed to draw you in with subtlety and atmosphere, digestible as a treat for an early morning commute or a low key introduction to sunset shenanigans, enduring as it wears in rather than becoming disposable. The result had to be something you could happily walk into a shop, pay cash for and keep close to hand/ears at all times, a big ask in a saturated market.
