We have a real treat today. Over 2 years ago we approached one of the men who responsible for turning us into disco fiends. We really didn’t expect to receive a response and when we did we were both surprised and enthused. This man was Greg Wilson. Not only did Greg take the time to give us one of our first guestmixes but he also spent an hour on the phone to us giving us a really in-depth insight (below) into the scenes history and his origins as a Dj. Suffice to say we have the utmost respect for Greg who has always taken to time to ensure people accurately understand where these timeless tracks all came from and whats keeping them relevant.

Greg recently came down to play at one of our parties in London and has very kindly given us the recording of his live set to use as his second guestmix for us. We think you’ll agree that it cements his position as both an adventurous selector and a talented Dj. There is no tracklist for this one but that’s half the fun.

This one is a homage to Greg Wilson, one of the main reasons for myself getting back into disco again over 10 years ago and inspiring me to take up editing and producing in the first place. There are few names more revered than Greg Wilson when it comes to DJing. In a time when the word legend gets thrown around referring to anyone vaguely involved in the formative years of house, Greg is one of the few names genuinely deserving of that status. From his hugely popular residencies in the early eighties at Wigan Pier and Manchester's majorly influential clubs Legend and The Hacienda, his role in the development of electronic music in the UK cannot be overstated.

Having begun DJing in 1975, 2015 sees Greg celebrate his fourth decade as a DJ and so we thought we'd invite him mark the occasion in the best possible way - by serving up a fresh set of selections for us to wrap our ears around.

Mixed in celebration of two anniversaries - he is also due to touch down in Liverpool December 5th for unconventional party starters Freeze's 10th year celebrations - the Super Weird Substance boss again showcases why he's still at the top of the tree all these years on. Here's to the next 40 Greg!

Chic had a sound of all their own, the crack rhythm section of Nile Rodgers (guitar), Bernard Edwards (bass) and drummer Tony Thompson providing the highly infectious grooves that characterised their records. They would be massively influential as a consequence, their anthemic tracks still loved all these years later, with a new younger generation embracing their good time vibe in the same way their parents might have.
 
The mix consists of 12 edits / reworks of 9 Rogers & Edwards produced tracks, all of which happened to be originally recorded during 1977-79, the years which saw Disco peak and decline, with Chic at the helm during those halcyon days, their own recordings providing 4 US top 10 singles, including a pair of #1s, whilst Sister Sledge, whose success they mentored, weighed in via the hit-laden ‘We Are Family’ LP. They even found time for a French excursion via Sheila & B Devotion’s ‘Spacer’.
