Across 5 tracks, including a collaboration with label bosses Black Sun Empire, the Dutchman offers up his own unrelenting blend of neurofunk and jump-up. 'Abandon' brings together rapid percussion, 10 tonne bass and ominous synth lines; everything you need to tear apart a dancefloor!

Drum & bass stalwarts Black Sun Empire are to follow up a trio of recent EPs from The Upbeats, Neonlight and Pythius with the release of ‘Until The World Ends’ - a five-track, collaborative EP with NZ duo State Of Mind. Lead single ‘Ego’ will be released on 7th December via their genre-defining Blackout imprint, drawing an end to a prolific 2014 for the label. 

‘Ego’ immediately sets the tone for the rest of the EP, with growling bass lines and punchy synth-stabs underpining dark, techy atmospherics and vocal loops. Skittering melodics then give way to signature frenetic beats and firing drums to round off proceedings in style.

Blackout have built a reputation for curating their own brand of dark, neurofunk-inspired drum & bass over the past 12 months and this collaboration with long-term collaborators State Of Mind - who released their latest album ‘Eat The Rich’ via Blackout earlier this year - feeds into the hype already surrounding the label moving into 2015.

They established a temporary hub deep in the catacombs of the urban ultrascape, a sanctuary far from the eyes of the flesh-wrapped bio species of this technologically primitive planet. They were the last few of what was supposed to have been a peaceful incursion, an optimistic greeting between species that now stood as a declaration of violence written in the broken shards of their fallen brothers. As the chaos had blossomed around them and the incident unfurled its catastrophic and unstoppable cycle of causal probabilities and terminal results, they watched as their speaker was torn apart by the masses that pushed in against their number. Its limbs were ripped from its body each in turn, flailing and spilling hydraulic fluid as it twisted, reaching out to choke fragile throats as those merciless hands destroyed the beings they viewed as abominations. They managed to retrieve what was left of the body, separated and broken, but its heart and brain intact. Now in their refuge, with a click the last component slipped into place, its eyes flickered into life and its hand closed tight, its first thought - of death – the need to squeeze the life out of those fragile frightened masses.
 
Powerful neurofunk duo STATE OF MIND return to the ever-evolving EATBRAIN label with their AUTOMATA EP, alongside collaborators JADE, MAZTEK & MINDSCAPE to deliver 6 shockingly effective tech-fuelled weapons. ‘Black Clouds’ begins with an ominous sounding intro, one which gradually pulls you into its immersive soundscape and rolls out the carpet among punching drums and rolling percussion. The tempo is suddenly switched and you’re drawn deeper into the mix, as it becomes more and more overpowering. The crescendo comes when the track explodes down its climatic drop and you’re left to be taken along for the ride. The crumbling city stood like the bones of a decaying animal, falling to ruin in a silence amplified by the lack of ears nearby that might hear it. It was an oppressive quiet, broken only rarely by the falling of concrete or steel to the cracked asphalt below. Yet one day, a new cry uttered forth within that sonic emptiness. It was shrill yet powerful, and it rang out slowly as though painstakingly expunged from the throat of the beast that had emitted it. Its source, however, came only indirectly from the biology of those who caused it. For this was the cry of feet of steel, forced open and ground against its frame by the two lonesome souls who had lain within.

That first moment of sunlight was blinding to their eyes, even when filtered through the roiling green clouds that blanketed the sky and rained down debris onto the landscape. Day and night had ceased to mean anything within the pair’s holdout, and their emergence into the gloom of midday stood in stark opposition to the biological clocks that had regulated their bodies for so long. Even for all these banalities with which they were met, the pair knew that they could no longer find shelter in their subterranean home, their supplies exhausted by the indeterminate passage of time that had marched over them therein. No, now the pair knew that they must go forth, back into the world that had once been their own. For them, the only hope at life lay underneath that green glowing sky, somewhere in the vast unknown that lay beyond the BUNKER.

AGRESSOR BUNX emerge from their studio to deliver BUNKER, the first step in their journey into the lands of the ENSUING CATACLYSM that will imbue their sonic works in the months to come. Their first release on EATBRAIN since 2019’s Power Glow EP, AGRESSOR BUNX return to lead the label’s ravenous horde through the tumultuous landscape of the cataclysm to come, debuting BUNKER as the first step amidst its apocalyptic advance.
