Poker Flat continue their welcome foray into vinyl-only releases - following Kindimmer's
fine Wax Substance EP - with four deep morsels from Pavel Iudin (or Paul Yudin, as he's occasionally known in anglophone circles.) Now respected resident at St. Petersburg's Stackenschneider club, Iudin has developed a real feel for deep, dubby dancefloor-oriented tech house. And Waxology is no exception.

The title track is a luxurious meditation - layered, thoughtful with subtle builds and shifts. This is precision-engineered deep house, finetuned to send you into head-nodding ecstasy.

A 'Tokamak' - for those who don't know - is a kind of experimental, Russian doughnut designed to confine plasma for nuclear fusion. In other words, it's futuristic, profound and utterly enveloping - which is exactly what Iudin delivers on this circling, bubbling groove.

Meanwhile, the dubby foundation of 'Anchor' is contrasted by echoing chimes, crisp percussion and shimmering timbres that whizz in and out of earshot, while 'Charmel' is deeper still, a booming kick married to a sinuous bassline to fashion a heavy dancefloor stomper.

Across the board, this is unflashy and highly focused stuff whose booming depth and spacious production comes to life in vinyl form.

Making a return to DHA are Polish producers and Pets Recordings' label owners, Catz 'N Dogz - providing for us an electrifying mix and will be performing at We Are FTSVL on the 28th May.

Since their origination in 2003, Catz 'N Dogz have been active all around the industry. They've played at renowned festivals such as SW4, Park Life, Bestival, Snowbombing, Electric Daisy Carnival, BPM, Movement Festival, and Exit Festival, and released on labels such as Keinemusik, Mothership, and their very own Pets Recordings. Solid Grooves serve up a five-track sampler featuring label founders PAWSA and Michael Bibi alongside label favourites ONNO, Reelow and Dennis Cruz.

Launching in September last year, Solid Grooves Records has been on an upwards trajectory ever since. The London and Ibiza brand are now about to kick-start their weekly Ibiza event series every Thursday at Vista Club where their core artists will share the decks with special guests throughout the summer. In light of this the founders have curated five tracks from some of their core roster that’s illustrative of the Solid Grooves musical aesthetic.

First up, Dennis Cruz ‘Fever’ is a rumbling track boasting echoing percussion and a heady spoken word sample. Michael Bibi then drops a moody number teeming with syncopated rhythms and chopped vocals before ONNO unleashes a cavernous cut named ‘Body Shake’ that’s geared for the peaktime. Next, PAWSA ‘Luster’ is a bass fuelled roller that takes no prisoners until Reelow concludes the package with the intricate ‘Shaolin Slap’.

August 8th sees Intec’s esteemed label co-heads Carl Cox and Jon Rundell both put their own unique spin on Josh Wink’s illustrious 2014 hit ‘Talking To You’, distributed via the aforementioned imprint.

This impressive two-track offering follows a whole host high quality 2016 Intec releases including the Beatport chart topping ‘Intec 100’, which last saw Carl and Jon team up to deliver a release well worthy of its billing. 

Carl Cox’s interpretation commences the release, boasting the original’s ‘I’m Talking To You’ vocal sample set to a driving Tech House rhythm with a looped-up manipulated chord riff and an abundance of squelchy acid bleeps. 

Jon Rundell’s re-work follows and ventures down more of a darker Techno route, utilising the original’s vocal sample and acidline but adding a pounding TR-909-laden groove, sinister sound effects and a clever arrangement.   

You can catch the Ovum Records label boss Josh Wink perform alongside Carl at his final ever season at Space Ibiza (every Tuesday until September 20th) on August 16th.  

‘Talking To You’ (Carl Cox & Jon Rundell Remixes) is available exclusively via Beatport from August 8th and everywhere else two weeks later.

Our Debut Transmission today is the interpretation from Ralph Lawson & Rui-Z  which retains the bubbling make up of Couto’s ‘Like This’, whilst introducing a bumping low-end, shuffling hats and rugged kicks to reveal a track aimed firmly at the dancefloor. We picture this one like a motorcycle ride to hell, chugging and militant by design, it's like something out of Mad Max or Ghost Rider. The basslines are thick and they pound with intent while piercing, unnerving synths trickle in alongside unpleasant chords that stab in-and-out of focus.

Amsterdam’s own Black Girl / White Girl line up their debut release on Max Chapman’s Resonance Records with their ‘Tales Of Light’ EP, featuring the deep, whimsical and driving house cut ‘Crazy Joe’.
 
Since emerging on the global club circuit due to standout releases on Flashmob, Roush, Lapsus and Smiley Fingers among others, the Dutch duo have blossomed into more experienced producers and DJs who know how to work a dancefloor with ease. Plus, with early support from the likes of John Digweed, Riva Starr and Santé, they’ve gained valuable insight to continue their path. 
 
Now, as they grace Resonance for the first time, ‘Crazy Joe’ embodies the essence of their sound with irresistible rhythms and a playful nature that’s primed to be a club favorite. The track is inspired by a notorious NY mobster named Joe Gallo and the new release focuses on the art of telling a story through music.
 
“Storytelling is something we really dig and don’t see done like this very often in house and techno,” says Ty and Karin. “That connection between story, sonics, and spoken word was the main focal point within these two tracks. That, and an absolutely monstrous bottom end."
