Without holding his breath or glancing back, Steyoyoke's newest artist Aaryon steps forward and plunges himself straight into the deep end with his debut EP 'Fairy Tales'. Comprising of two originals, a remix from Ran Salman and two remixes from Animal Picnic, this release is sure to leave its mark.

The title track is a solid first release and a fine introduction of things to come from this artist. Possessing an exotic energy and hypnotic vibe, 'Fairy Tales' is driven by a strong momentum, that dominates and pushes you beneath a surface of beats. Deep bassline kicks and thrumming techno vibes are harmoniously laced with intense melodies that genuinely evoke a sense of fairy tale madness.

Ran Salman is next in line to flavour 'Fairy Tales' with his sound and puts forth an edgier, slightly darker version. The intensity is a little more progressive and a smidge dirtier, but it mirrors that exact same drive and momentum from the original. 

Track number three is the Club Edit from Spanish duo Animal Picnic, who are taking up remix duties with Steyoyoke for the first time. Their interpretation of 'Fairy Tales' seems to have more punch and attitude, which definitely boosts 'Fairy Tales' with an added sense of presence.

Their second remix brings soaring key changes, beautiful transitions and smooth basslines. Layers of deep percussion are infused with broody undertones, creating a beautiful platform of warm rich sounds. 

'Chlorine' is Aaryon's second track on the EP and it bares a harsher, sharper quality, then is heard on any of the other tracks on this release. Laden with sparse synth riffs and a bouncy techno jive, this track is both powerful and commanding. It is also another testament to support Aaryon’s talent and skill.

Monday after the storm

Some of us were stuck on the road after BRC closed, some of us lost days of effort and work, some of us played in playa mud, and in the case of Mayan Warrior… were hit by lightning.

Rebolledo was stuck on the highway after the city closed and he couldn't play with Damian as “Mental”. It turned out we had a world famous DJ neighbor who kindly agreed to play for us. Out of respect for other camps and because it wasn't scheduled we are not releasing his name but Monday was the Mayan Warrior camp’s official virgin night at Burning Man and turn out to be amazing.

Thank you very much to the special guest that played all night and to his girlfriend that spend her first Burning Man night with us.  The music was perfect and we will never forget how Embrace looked with the lasers painting their minds.

Kerri Chandler has tapped UK duo Kry Wolf for the 25th release on his MadTech Records imprint. 

Kry Wolf have made quite a name for themselves in the past few years via their own Sounds Of Sumo label. Their forthcoming Orbit (Give It Up) EP showcases the pairs development into artists at the forefront of modern house.

Our premiere today sees up-and-coming Southampton duo, South Royston, take the "punchy bass hook and mesmeric pad lines" of EP's title track, and switch it up with irresistible shuffles and classic stabs.
