I JUST CAN’T GET ENOUGH

Latvian duo Taran & Lomov present 'Semper Supra' – their debut LP on their own label Amber Muse; a refined and accomplish long player that showcases the tip of an iceberg patiently built across two dedicated and long-spanning careers in the music industry.

Together, the pair have managed to earn the coveted stripes of 'jack of many, master of many' across a fruitful and symbiotic 20 years. They've turned their hands to promotion, production, remixing, radio hosting, music journalism and DJing. At this point, they have a gilded resume that includes support for their releases from the likes of Jane Fitz and Laurent Garnier, releases on W&O Street Tracks, Josh Wink's Ovum Recordings and Dense & Pika's Kneaded Pains as Queer On Acid and of course – their basecamp – the Amber Muse Radio show.

Musically, 'Semper Supra' is a genre-flexing trip with its roots in early 2000s Minimal and late 90s Electronica. 9 tracks bearing flecks of influence from labels like Time Passages, Perlon and Warp as well as artists such as Black Dog, Metamatics, Binh and Jan Jelenik meld in a head-twisting brew - one that caters to listeners on any point in the spectrum between after-hours raver to armchair astronaut.
 
The glue in the record is the subtly haunting energy omitted by the synths, sweeps and atmospherics that course through the album. The spectral glow these conjure hangs gently over a variety of bpms and intensities, keepings things suffused in a dubby fog that gives a living, breathing sense of space and atmosphere.

Case and point being 'Nano Crab' - a patient, frosty recording that stacks energy in subtly folding layers of mangled, otherworldly signals and primal rhythms. 'Slow East' follows up with a skeletal Electro track that oozes with an ominous mood often clocked in Nicolas Lutz's extended sets.

The warped robotics and cold sonics of 'Slickers' are given life and mobility via groove and clever sequencing while 'Corp' whips up into a more frenzied zone. Alarm tones burnt and bit crushed while drums move with the sort of urgency required for boiling point dance floors before the title track provides an allaying landing pad as it scatters pin-prick melodies across a wide, icy soundscape.

Riga-based duo Queer on Acid return to STEP Recordings with their new 'Emerge' EP. Having already built a strong connection with the label through three releases over the past years, the pair continue to refine their instantly recognizable sound - a vibrant, acid-driven fusion of house and techno.

On the 'Emerge' EP, Queer on Acid explore the contrasts that shape their music: moments of subtle introspection unfold alongside the unrestrained energy of the dancefloor. The EP shifts effortlessly between the liberating atmosphere of open-air raves and the raw, shadowy intensity of warehouse nights, capturing the duo's vision of contemporary club culture.

Taran & Lomov's "Riga Bay, Pt. 1" EP marks their return to their very own Amber Muse label, presenting a release consciously divided into two complementary halves. This structure allows the skilled Latvian duo to explore a wider emotional and functional range, creating a listening experience that moves from communal energy to introspective reflection. The parcel feels like a natural yet ambitious progression in their catalogue, demonstrating a clear intent to communicate with listeners across different settings.  

Premiered here, the Queer On Acid remix of "Drifter" hijacks the original's atmosphere and steers it toward a sweatier, more urgent destination. A squelching helix of acid twists its way through the heart of the track, forging a driving rhythm built for peak-time moments. This rework sheds the introspective layers, instead forging a raw and physical tool that commands the body to move. The result is a relentless Techno cut, both functional and fierce in its execution.

Taran & Lomov are back with a fresh heater, Bo Gets Drunk, landing on Amber Muse this 21 November. Riga’s underground wouldn’t be the same without these two. They’ve been shaping the city’s sound for years with deep, raw techno that hits hard in the club and still feels smooth enough for a late-night listen. Spacious pads, rolling grooves, proper atmosphere, the lot.

And Amber Muse? That’s the home turf for forward-thinking dance music. A label that backs its scene, pushes new ideas, and keeps quality tight. If you’re tuned into Riga’s output, you already know.

But today’s spotlight is on the remix we’re premiering: Bo Gets Drunk (Queer on Acid Remix).

Queer on Acid are long-time friends, studio heads, and Riga lifers. You might know them from their earlier run as Taran & Lomov, but in 2019 they kicked off Queer on Acid, a project and label built as a nod to queer culture and the raw, messy fun of proper underground house and techno. 

Since then they’ve dropped standout EPs like Bed Drama, the cheeky Lilly’s Boobs, remixed Walker & Royce, Terr, and Daniel Watts, teamed up with Robert Owens and Hard Ton, and fired releases across Ovum, Kneaded Pains, Acid Avengers, Takeout, Clash Lion, Step Recordings, and the legendary Nervous in NYC. They do club music with character, simple as that.

Their take on Bo Gets Drunk is playful, punchy, and full of that late-night mischief the title promises. Tight drums, cheeky synth work, and a groove that makes it very hard to stay still. It’s the sound of a night that gets a bit loose and a lot memorable.

This one’s built for sweaty rooms and living rooms alike.
