WP032 THE CRUISING - “Wise And Weird EP” Whiskey Pickle Records

Music pieces by Russian duo The Cruising(Yula Vovk and Sergei Demidov) are not that easy to identify, both style and time-wise. Funky vibes of the 1970s and 1980s are generously mixed with techno and peppered with unconventional live instruments, vocals, and flirting with rock and roll. Throw in ambitions of new genre creators, and you get a fantastic creature, a techno-funky-rock unicorn.  The“Wise And Weird” EP features four of the duo’s original versions ranging from groovy indie dance to funky techno to acid house. Nottingham dons Coyote(Is It Balearic?) turn in a lovely laid back tripped out remix from deep within their Balearic realm.

WP032 - The Cruising - Wise And Weird (W/ Coyote Remix) Digital Release

Hundreds of you have been asking us more about the edit played by the "Legend" Lil Louis in the world famous video at Concrete in Paris.

The story is kinda of secret but well, after a few years we may can tell.
Louis came to dj in Italy and a very close friend of us, who picked him up from the airport, or wherever, had a CD in his car playing Equatoriale (Demo Mix).

He kindly asked him the CD and how could he say no to a man like him who did the story of House Music? 

After a few weeks we've been submerged of messages as the video you may be know from Concrete was rocking the internet. Louis was playing his own edit of the track with the Mr. Fingers - Can you feel it (Acapella) on it BUT with an additional phrase to the words saying:
"THE HOUSE THAT CHICAGO BUILT".

So! If you're a true House Music lover you may be know that Lil Louis is producing a movie about House Music called "The House that Chicago Built"
so that's where the phrase comes from, here's the video teaser of the movie:

Of course we couldn't use the Mr. Fingers acapella for an official release of Equatoriale, so the web crazily started releasing edits of this track as seen on the video, but well, as we probably are the only ones having the instrumental of the track, this is our own edit, of course missing the very last words "The House that Chicago Built".

Sanity was long gone. He had little left to believe in but for what lay before him. Who the hell knew if he could trust that. As he walked down the street he scowled through the shop windows, the glass flickered under the glint of raindrops. The noise of traffic echoed horribly around his head and the voices kept talking back and forth. He wanted to run but who could say how far he would ever get. A broken man walking alone through the rainy streets of a town he once knew. 

This one is pretty special. Yotam Avni has been making vast waves over the last twelve months and this track first surfaced in Ame & Dixon's Essential Mix earlier this year.

Before coming together as co-producers of the musical project The Cruising(Yula Vovk and Sergei Demidov) were already well-known and respected in the electronic and funk music communities for their work both as musicians and DJs. After the release of their critically-acclaimed EP, “Talking Good,” on the Brazilian label, Mister Mistery and remix release on Om Records, the musical pair decided to push ahead with the development of their unique style. In 2012, they started their own label Kraswa Records. The Cruising has a penchant for effectively combining live guitar riffs with the sweet beats of an analog drum machine. At other times the group makes great use of the most unexpected of instruments - notably the harmonica and the xylophone - in harmony with the sounds of legendary synthesizers like the Roland Alpha Juno and DX7, Sequential Circuits, TG 77, and Moog Rogue. The musical project, The Cruising, is made up of a pair of people who love each other, love music, and love to travel. They pour all of their emotion and experiences into what they call “home sweet home music production” – a place where one lives by the mantra of Just Сruise and Hang Out!
