Twenty years ago, London Elektricity unleashed a seminal drum & bass album into the world. ‘Billion Dollar Gravy’ was Tony Colman’s second longplayer, following the iconic debut project ‘Pull The Plug’ released in 1999. Widely acclaimed and well-respected for a multitude of reasons - from the iconic album artwork of Tony holding the ‘Billion Dollar Gravy’ placard, to revolutionary anthems such as album title-track ‘Billion Dollar Gravy’, ‘Different Drum’ and ‘Fast Soul Music’, two decades on, the album is revisited with a fresh sonic injection. ‘Billion Dollar Remixes’ is a meticulously crafted project which aligns a selection of some of the finest drum & bass talent with the album originals, making way for the likes of Watch The Ride, Whiney & Unglued, Mozey, Dogger & Mindstate, Zero T, Kimyan Law, Bop x Subwave, Whytwo & imo-Lu, Hugh Hardie and Conrad Subs to put their spin on the 2003 classics.

The unstoppable powerhouse electronic trio Watch The Ride, made up of the legendary DJ Die, Dismantle and Randall see the album in with their immaculately energised remix of title track ‘Billion Dollar Gravy’. Surging the iconic original with crisp-topped basslines and bubbling drumwork, their flawless production style infuses seamlessly with the nostalgic elements of one of London Elektricity’s finest works. With recent hits under their belt including ‘READY4DEM’, ‘Mash Up The Dance’ with Nia Archives, and ‘Original Format’ with D Double E, brace yourself for more triple threat action as Watch The Ride unleash yet another scorcher into their discography.

Stepping up to the plate for remix duties on drum & bass classic ‘Cum Dancing’ is the one and only Mozey, who has continuously taken the scene by storm with his high octane selection of releases on imprints such as Souped Up, Liquid V, and Hospital Records. His modernised jump up style has seen him pave the way for a new generation of artists, with this remix offering a playful spin on the already infectious original through resonant basslines and crunch-packed drumwork.

‘Life Is Beautiful’ is a tasteful modern reinterpretation of the Billion Dollar Gravy album original track ‘The Great Drum + Bass Swindle’, and in true London Elektricity fashion has been flipped on its head completely courtesy of soul-drenched piano phrases which allure delicately to the original vocal cuts.

Showcasing a skill he is known best for, London Elektricity’s carefully curated remix album pays homage to two decades of his iconic second longplayer sees a melting pot of influences and styles. You’ll be able to catch London Elektricity performing at his very own Billion Dollar gRAVEy album launch at Werkhaus in London on 19th May, as well as a special 5-hour set at Hospitality On The Beach in Tisno, Croatia this July.

Juho Kavasto and Sainey Gibba are back to remind you of their production prowess, with their first slice of new music since 2022! Having taken a bit of a welcome break from production after the release of their debut album ‘Simulations’ back in 2021, the pair return with a re-energised approach and a recognisable, yet pleasing sound palate to paint the aural canvas of 2024 anew. 

Reworking ‘Jola Dub’ taken from their aforementioned debut LP ‘Simulations’ - the VIP brings back the Gambian tribal vibes once again but this time with a more familiar, DJ friendly drum pattern. Big, chunky bass textures meet shimmering synths in an energetic collision ready to tear up your local discotheque.

Mooncat, a veteran figure in the Spanish drum & bass scene, returns with a new release on South Yard.

After a prolonged period of silence, Mooncat, one of our most respected artists, steps back into the spotlight with a release featuring two tracks: "Konkreet" and "Deep Blues," each with its own unique character and message.

"Konkreet" is inspired by the struggle and resilience needed to survive in the "concrete jungle" of our society. This track is a musical invitation from the artist to confront the alienation of city life, rampant capitalism, individualism, and excessive ambition. The dub-infused atmospheres invite reflection and preparation for action. The gut-wrenching and powerful basslines aim to overwhelm you, but the resilient atmosphere counters them, keeping us focused in perfect harmony.

"Deep Blues" is a musical synthesis of how our minds sometimes delve into deep states where shadows we prefer not to see reside. Filled with past experiences and inherited beliefs, this track represents the parts of ourselves we reject. The dark and intriguing atmospheres of this track symbolize that deep mind until we decide to face that internal struggle. The bassline, with its brutal sub-bass oscillations, stirs up all that dark, repressed content, akin to the dark night of the soul.

These two tracks are a testament to Mooncat's talent and depth as an artist. His ability to create music that not only sounds incredible but also conveys a powerful message is truly impressive. We are thrilled to have Mooncat back at South Yard and can't wait for everyone to hear his new work.

For their forthcoming release, they’ve brought duo Volatile Cycle into the fold; the second edition of their ‘Volatile Cycle & Friends’ EP delivers four cut-throat anthems which are sure to put both Volatile Cycle and their featuring artists into the clubsphere’s forefront. Vowel comes through first with the effortlessly-tech driven record ‘Dispersed’, pulled forward by his crashing drum sequences and swathes of clattering percussion. Long-time collaborator Barbarix jumps on board alongside Volatile Cycle for ‘Trauma’, a hectic journey which utilises crunching LFOs and gradually builds segment after segment. Then finally, London-based Philth offers up ‘Nowhere’, merging his minimalist, rolling style amongst Volatile Cycle’s chaotic signature. With four brand new tracks about to be released on Lifestyle, given a platform by an imperative part of their team, the label is entering the latter half of 2018 as strong as ever... another reason why they’re becoming tastemakers within the underground world of drum & bass.
