"Beaches and Friends" by French Horn Rebellion & Database was an OG Indie Sleaze #1 Hype Machine Hit in 2009.  It was original released as 4-track EP with 2 mixes, and 2 remixes, one by The Twelves and the other by Hey Champ.  Shortly after release, the two gropus went on a now-infamous 30-show US live tour that was filmed and edited by MTV Brasil - and became an episodic series in that country, called "Midnight Cowboys." 

Interestingly, there never was an 'original' mix of this song - only diferent versions.  In 2009, the FHR and Database were still relative beginners in their production abilities, and didn't have the skills to execute the track's original vision.  Now, 15 years later, we release the original as it was intended, in all its greasy glory.

The 15-year anniversary pack also includes remixes by legendary Brazilian DJ-Duo Tropkillaz and Sugar Hill.

New York based toucan sounds release joyous single from Brazilian duo Database, including a killer remix from Eli Escobar.

Having previously released music on labels such as Kitsuné and Fatboy Slim’s Southern Fried Records, Database tap into their Brazilian roots with their latest single ‘Um Segredo’, bringing a slice of the country’s golden-age funk to the consistently impressive toucan sounds label.

‘Um Segredo’ channels the energy of Brazil’s finest 80’s acts such as Marcos Valle and Banda Black Rio, with its irresistible bassline, catchy vocals, and horn sections taking cues from the past whilst looking firmly into the future. Destined for hands in the air moments on the dancefloor, the duo have successfully crafted an utterly infectious single.

World-renowned DJ and producer Eli Escobar turns in an excellent remix, stripping down the original to the bone, expertly rebuilding it from the ground up. Cold, machine-like drums form a sparse atmosphere, with subtle blooming chords creeping in to progress into a highly satisfying, if understated, crescendo.

Rounding off the package is a set of instrumentals for both mixes, guaranteed to keep listeners and DJs alike coming back to this exemplary release.

Database - Um Segredo (Eli Escobar Remix)

From São Paulo, Brazil, Database is a DJ/producer duo, made up of two childhood friends, Yuri Chix, and Lucio Morais. 

Their quirky, fun sense of humor always finds its way into their sun drenched dj sets, mixes, and recordings. The duo originally emerged as an integral part of the bloghaus scene of the late 2000's, scoring collaborations with The Twelves, Mark Ronson, FatBoy Slim, French Horn Rebellion, Is Tropical, Citizens! and more, with multiple releases on Kitsuné and Southern Fried. 

Since then, they have been playing clubs and festivals around the world, and are well loved residents in the São Paulo disco and house scene. The two can be found on a rooftop, or beachside party, dj decks in front, caipirinhas in hand, nearly every day of the week.
