I started raving in Toronto in 1999.  Became a DJ in 2000 under the name Chuck Li.  I was lucky enough to score a job at the local record joint, Speed Clothing and Records until they closed up shop.  In my time there I met so many great promoters and DJs (many of them now producers)… DJ Jace and Benny Knox to name a few.  Ended up getting involved with promoting events in Kitchener-Waterloo back in 2003 at a club called Frequency.  This was the origin of Fine Grind Productions.  I remained active in the KW scene and was breaking into the Toronto scene until 2009 when my life took a different turn and I got out of the scene completely.  So fast forward to 2019, getting back into the DJ game, now under the name Chuck RE.  Upon my return I was so pleased to find the Fine Grind torch carried on by Jace and Benny under Fine Grind Audio (FGA).

Right now I’m using (2) Technics SL-1200 MK2's, Pioneer DJM-450, and Pioneer Rekordbox DVS.  Really enjoying some of this new technology, but still love the classic vinyl approach.  My roots are in the trance scene and the like (hard house, hard style, etc).  I still dabble with those genres, but going forward my main focuses will be techno and progressive tekkie-house.   For me, this comes down to how "mixable" these genres are.  If I don't have two tracks playing, frankly I'm bored.  My posted mixes tend to be tamer than a live set.  All the way back to 1999, all I ever wanna do is blast the roof off!
