This is the 2nd of my PSYCHED! mixes following "Imposter Syndrome"  Each title is fun or funny or just sounds cool but also gives me an opportunity to teach a little.  I called this Shock Therapy because I've had ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy), as it's now known, and it was the easiest and most impactful treatment I've ever had in a lifetime of psychiatric treatment and I'd like people to realize it's not scary... like AT ALL.  

According to NAMI.ORG (National Alliance on Mental Illness) ECT is a non-invasive medical treatment that is most often used with individuals who have a serious mental illness, such as major depression or bipolar disorder. It’s performed under anesthesia and involves using small electric currents to trigger a brief, controlled seizure in the brain. ECT appears to create changes in brain chemistry that can quickly improve certain mental health symptoms.

Although ECT is effective, it’s under used as a treatment option. This is possibly due to factors such as stigma and misinformation, lack of availability, or concerns over side effects.  The reality of treatment with ECT is very different than it was decades ago, when it was in the early stages of development. As with any treatment approach, the goal is to provide the highest benefit with the least amount of risk, and ECT has since emerged as a safe and effective option.

Here is a rare live recording of Pete live on vinyl in 91 taken from a cassette that was stored in his loft for many years.

In 1990-1992 Pete was resident for Juice @ The Freetown Club in Hanley, Stoke-On-Trent alongside his then DJ partner Kelvin Andrews every Saturday which was the forerunner to Pete's 11 year residency at the superclub Golden.

The mix heavily features tracks from U.S. producers from the likes of David Morales, Steve Silk Hurley, Maters At Work, Armando, Arthur Baker, Tyree, C&C Music Factory, Kevin Saunderson, Underground Resistance & Komix as well as many great UK productions from this fantastic era.
