This month’s offering from Monk Audio is a two track single from a producer named Crusty, who hails from South Africa. He is no stranger to the label, having previously teamed up with fellow countryman Dopplershift on their collaboration “Ghandi” which came out as part of the 666 EP earlier this year. 

He has brought two weighty, club orientated tracks to the table. The first of these is “Hells Kitchen”, a particularly menacing number with a large serving of gritty bass sounds. Then there is the B side “Lost in the Imagery” which combines a deep and sinister vocal with futuristic sounding synths and bass.

Polish producer Satl steps out of his comfort zone and explores his Dub Techno infuences on his new Lucid Dreams EP: his sophomore release on Amsterdam boutique label The North Quarter.

Consisting of six brooding, but elegant tracks, “Lucid Dreams” is the work of an artist taking creative risks in order to grow and fnd his voice. Having made the move from Rotterdam to Gdańsk at the start of the year, Satl spent his lockdown delving into his love for Techno; looking to translate it into his Drum & Bass productions - with exceptional results.

"This EP to me is an exploration of a sound that I've loved for some time, but never really felt confdent enough to attempt. A more raw, techno-inspired, but still elegant and classy form of Drum and Bass," he explains. "I always strive to push myself forward, and I feel really good about this project. It's a step outside of my comfort zone. A project that I'm really proud of."

Following The Knife’s 20th anniversary and recent remix of Emmanuel Jal’s ‘Ti Chuong’, Swedish musician Olof Dreijer is set to release a remix of Röyksopp & Robyn’s ‘Monument’ via Röyksopp’s Dog Triumph imprint. This is the first time Olof has worked with the duo, having previously worked with Robyn across projects on Konichiwa Records. For the rework, Olof brings his signature warm and percussive sound to the chart-topping single. The track is accompanied by a visualizer from Martin Falck who has previously collaborated with The Knife, Björk, Fever Ray and Robyn. 

Originally released in 2014 via their mini-album ‘Do It Again’, the release was accompanied by a joint tour across Europe and America. Receiving critical acclaim, ‘Do It Again’ reached no. 20 in the UK charts and number 1 album in Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart, marking Röyksopp and Robyn’s first. 

Olof has also remixed the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Fever Ray, Mari Boine, Emmanuel Jal and Mehdi Bahmad and recently produced and remixed fellow Swedish artist Zhala’s latest single ‘Holes’ on Konichiwa Records. 

Olof is most known for his work as one half of the electronic pop duo The Knife formed with his sibling Karin Dreijer. The band celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2020 with reissues, remixes and special live performances.
